P4P Vargas is certainly not mentionable in the same category as Duran. Vargas was certainly a natural LMW and solid MW contender...At LMW not Durans natural weight he went 5-4 from 81-84 with solid wins over an aging cuevas and a young Moore (still decent wins). Vargas however has solid wins agains Wright, and Quartey KO's agains campas and marquez....He was stopped by Trinidad, DLH and Mosley...However I am not certain that Duran had the power at this weight that those guys did. His track record at LMW certainly does not convince one that vargas getting KO'd is a foregone conclusion...at MW maybe even less so. Vargas actually has a decent shot at pulling out an upset in this one based on their LMW performances...But Duran rightly so would be a favorite.... Now Tyson judging by the support from the youngsters on here would certainly be a favorite. But we are talking about 2 guys who are on most peoples top 10 ATG list and nearly everyones top 15. In a group that size with little seperating most I find it hard to believe that any knowledgeble poster would say any top 10 guy has NO chance against another. certainly we can speculate who we would favor and why we think a certain guy would beat another. Tyson would certainly be the favorite here, but he was against Douglas as well. So being a favorite does not mean your opponent has no chance...I personally believe Frazier wins this in 8 or 9 but to say Tyson has not shot is ridicullous....So is saying Vargas and frazier have no shot!!!!! Your $.02 seems to be a lofty opinion of your analysis...Free might even be to pricey????
Why would make fun of somebody who has given their life to boxing only to get **** on later in life? You're a disgrace.
Frazier himself would, and does. And several on this board have given Frazier their support in doing that, because the subject of Frazier's spite said derogatory things about him some 35 years ago.
Nobody is denying that Tyson has a good chin but he has never fought a pressure fighter like Frazier. Tyson doesn't have the same style as Foreman did and would struggle on the inside against Frazier. Foreman didn't didn't let Frazier inside and that's a big reason why he beat him. Tyson would be inside with Frazier and would not be effective against him because he can't hit him cleanly and get power behind his punches. Frazier has the superior head movement and would work Tyson on the inside to the body. That left hook would come over the top and you would see Tyson begin to tire after early success. The fight starts to get more and more one sided as Frazier is still coming on strong until the ref stops it in the 11th round to save Tyson.
Yeah it's not right but Ali was attacking him and betrayed him for years. What did Frazier ever do to us? He should be respected like a warrior that he is instead of being made fun of.
Ali did things that Frazier sure had reasons to resent. But I don't think that's really why he's bitter today. It seems like he's had some misfortunes (lost much of his money, son's career didn't go as planned etc) and I think he blames them to some extent on being in Ali's "shadow". Because he didn't sound nearly as bitter directly after Manilla. It seems to have been coming over the years. Him saying stuff like that is for one thing a bit funny, since he don't come off as an rocket scientist himself really, but it's also ugly and sad.
