Calzaghe beats an old man by the name of Roy Jones now all of a sudden he is morally and ethically obliged to fight some joker who ducked a mandatory and a paycheck bigger than anything his own promoter was willing to give him. Can anybody explain why?
Hmmm... Well one guess would be the masses feel "who else is left"? It probably would be a good fight, just prolly not the kind of money Calz deserves to make these days. I mean really, who else is there? Erdei? Froch? Tarver lost to Dawson. Maybe this is why, I don't know though.
The Ring reports that Calz has relinquished his '68 Ring belt, so this just about rules out all the 168's. He is the LHW Ring Champ, Dawson appears to be the best of the challengers, atleast at this point IMO. Who do you feel Calzaghe should fight?
Dawson is not proven, He needs to fight in europe and gain some recognition over here before he fights calzaghe.
:finger Chad Dawson and Bernard Hopkins are the top 2 Lt Heavy challengers. Is this hard for you to comprehend?
Dude if someone calls themselves a boxing fan and doesn't know who Chad Dawson is, they need to stop calling themselves a boxing fan.
I'd love to see it. JC is #2 P4P and one of the few elite fighters in history to go undefeated. But some question his resume even after his defeat of Hopkins (#3 P4P at the time). Chad is being hyped as the next big thing and they may be right. He is borderline top 10 P4P right now and will beat Tarver in the rematch. A win over JC will move him to top 3 P4P and probably give him his biggest payday. Gotta figure Calzaghe wins a UD but he will be 37 when they fight so you never know.
If Calzaghe beats Dawson he will move up the ladder in the History of great LHW's. If Dawson beats Joe then he should be in the top 5 P4P at least. Its a very interesting fight if it ever happens.
Isn't it amazing how ducking a mandatory and giving away a title is now so easily forgiven? I don't recall any real champions like Joe Louis ducking fights. I don't recall Joe Louis ever refusing to give a close fight a rematch. Chad Dawson has done both.
