I was absolutely in awe of his speed, movement, and power.

Still think he's a KO waiting to happen, but he is impressive in many respects.

Man, that ref gave De Jesus a hell of a count. De Jesus went down at 7:08 of the video, and didn't make it to his feet until the 7:24 mark.

I noticed that. Maybe Gamboa left the neutral corner so the ref stopped counting but De Jesus didn't look too buzzed to where he wouldn't have gotten up sooner had the ref given him a straight count.

He has all the physical tools, but not the mental game like most of the cuban boxers that come over. He will probably get KO'd within his next three or four fights. He gets himself out of position quite often and this will cost him in the long run. I don't see him having near the career of his compatriot Casamayor.

He has all the indications of most Cuban fighters of being gifted, but not being able to handle the freedoms of the U.S. society and stay disciplined enough.

Gamboa has expressed in several interviews that he is aware that he needs to improve upon his defense. In these same interviews he comes off as though he's a very focused individual who is motivated by his family. As it turns out he ended up selling his Olympic Gold medal to provide for them. Honestly I don't know how he spends his time between fights and if the temptations of the Miami night life is getting to him but I haven't seen or heard any indications of that being the case.

Myself along with most cubans were more amazed with Solis than Gamboa when I first saw them in Cuba right before the Olympics
