German tv didnt show Golovkin's entire fight. As far as could be seen from the summary of Golovkin vs Gardner the Canadien had to take some very good and telling shots, but also connected with some decent punches. Golovkin stated in an interview after the fight that he was content with his performance, but would have liked to go more than 8 rounds as he was ready to for longer fights.
Yesterday! :deal He won by TKO as his opponent, Malik Dziarra quit after the 2nd round, eye injury. Golovkin looked pretty good and came close to stop Dziarra in the 2nd. Hopefully he'll fight more regularly, it was only his first fight in the 2nd half of 2008. The guy who beat Korobov, Bute, Andy Lee and Andre Dirrell in the amateurs doesn't really need tune-ups anymore, time to move up in competition.
Yesterday's opponent Malik Dziarra was suppossed to go the full route with him and make the water a little bit hot for the rising former amateur star. Dziarra is no bum.I am still surprised that Golovkin was able to stop him in two rounds.
The Golovkin Gunboat is back on duty, ready to sink Javier Alberto Mamani next week! :bbb http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=84200&cat=boxer
This Mamani guy looks decent,he went the distance with Sturm and Alcine and KO'd Crazy Kim.Good fight for Golovkin.
Nice step-up in comp. 2009 has to be his breakout year. Many feel he's ready to participate in a world title fight eliminator at this very moment, and I don't think he's too far to be honest. 3 or 4 fights including this, and he'll be ready for the title. But for Chrissakes, do some promotional hype, it's a great talent we're talking about, but completely unknown for the public!
