Gonzales didn't protest the stoppage. I think he lost the mouth piece to buy time. He was going to be out before the bell and he knew it.

    seriously?

darchinyan was winding up with power shot after power shot. burgos took way more punishment imo than gonzales did against gamboa.

burgos was slumped over his stool and rushed to hospital immediatley after the fight for christsakes!

He is a world class fighter, though. What the hell is wrong with you.

I wasn't comparing the two fights as they're not even close. Just bringing some perspective into the equation.

He won a SD against one fighter of note.....Montiel.... SO DOES THAT MAKE PETER A WORLD CLASS FIGHTER FOR BEATING JAMES TONEY OR OLEG MASKAEV???

Er, he gave Israel Vasquez all the he could handle in an excellent fight. He was winning, broke Vasquez's nose, knocked him down two times, cleaning, before Vasquez's heart showed through.

He has world class skill. Hell, Montiel is an excellent fighter, if you get a world title, you are world class. Regardless of how you actually rank head to head. Gonzalez outclassed a lot of good fighters in his run up to the title.

Yeah, you're qualified to speak on that, knowledgeable about the lower weight classes as you are...having apparently not even seen what most agree was a close #2 or #3 runner up for FOTY. :blood

I wouldn't call De Valle a nobody. He got a lucky punch. He was a decent top ten contender and okay champ. Not in the same class as Roy, but then who was back then.
