Hopkins clearly has the greater acheivments in his career IMO and should rightly be considered as the more significant figure in boxing. But Calzaghe beats him at any point in their respective careers.

Prime for prime, I have a hard time not giving it to BHop. He fought better opposition and was good enough to almost beat Calzaghe when they fought.

Hopkins beat Calzaghe anyway, so this question is dumb.

    Seriously.

Its bull**** that Hopkins fought better opposition.

His best wins prior to Tarver where against a fighter who started off at 130 and a fighter who started off at 147.

He fought and beat Winky but he made Winky fight him at 170.....a weight where Hopkins was comfortable and Winky isnt built for.

Both Calzaghe and Hopkins had a very lengthly reign in their respective divisions, and both fighters had there fair share of awful defenses.

Its a myth that Hopkins has a stellar resume.

I think a prime RJJ beats a prime Calz in pretty close fight.

prime hopkins v calzaghe( Before his hand problems got real bad) would be really close imo. I think calz work rate would sway the judges
