I'm debating with myself wether Mosley qualifies at LW.

The problem is, he couldn't get to most of them. I think he's quite overrated in terms of overall effectiveness, though as a puncher he was definitely among the most devastating ever.

Tua's power was always dangerous throughout the course of a fight. He's far too much of a 'hooker' for my liking. His right hand should have been used much more regularly.

The young, lighter, Tua was the best version. The one who fought Lewis was too heavy and slow.

I thik Tua would have a good chance of pulverising someone like Marciano. Most greats with movement and outside boxing ability would whip him.

    Couldnt agree more.

Tyson was an awesome force at his peak, I rank Mike as the 3rd best HWT ever - the highest ranking he has probably ever had here on ESB.

I think that the originally mentioned Naseem Hamed is the absolute epitome of this thread. ****in hell, he is live against anyone in his weightclass h2h, yet would struggle into a Featherweight top30.

Maybe Vitali Klitschko? Easy to knock the Russian sisters, but the big ugly iron chinned one is a ****in tough for any of the 20 or so HWs ranked ahead of him.

A drug free Johnny Tapia at 115

    A giving a **** Jose Luis Lopez at 147

A two armed Buddy McGirt at either 140 or 147

A Jose Legra who didn't waste the best part of his prime fighting stiffs at 126

    Eijiro Murata at 118

Although it's a premature pick, because we don't know how his career would have panned out, Kiyoshi Tanabe at 112-115.

Sung Kil Moon at 115, even though he'd probably cop some embarrassing schoolings off a few greats, would likely get a few to succumb to him.

benn and hamed....not in top ten, even twenty in their weights, but on their nights could give ANYONE a scare....benn is a great h2h fighter....jones, toney etc....should all beat him handsomely on paper.....as should mclelland..and barkley.....stylistically, his bob and weave, total offense when hurt and monstrous power make him a danger for any mw or smw...

Benn would have had virtually no chance against Roy, or Toney. And even on the VERY best night of Benn's life, Hagler and Monzon would **** him.

BTW - Benn ducked the hell outta Toney.

Oscar De La Hoya, I think he is far better than his official resume suggests. Though if you include victories over Trinidad and Mosley, it's closer to the mark.

Roy Jones - would be a nightmare for anyone from 160-175, but doesn't have the best resume going around.

    Mike Tyson. As above.

toney to me beats benn 99 times out of 100...cos he has silky defensive skills, great counterpuncher and one of the atg chins.....jones...mmmmm....yeah, sure, he could score an embarrasing shut out...or he could be embarrasingly ktfo....i aint sayin benn is up there with either. thats the point of the thread aint it...just that although he aint a top 20/30 fighter at his weight, he could do well head to head with many7.....

and i dont believe for one second benn 'ducked' anyone...win, lose or draw, benn came to fight and would have fought an elephant!!

fair point again re hagler and monzon...but what about hearns??...against a lot of atg, benn has a big chance..power is a great equalizer, as are big bolocks!!

Interesting pick. Do you consider Chandler and Pintor great? I would assume so and commend you.

What did you think of those two incidently?
