Terry Norris vs Roberto Duran @ 154

I say Norris by comfortable UD or late round TKO. Terry had the speed and the punch. Duran's a little too chubby at this weight, he would tire quicker. Competitive at 154, but not dominant. Not on a consistent basis, anyway.

 

Norris has everything that SRL had ?? Are you being serious ?? I liked Norris but even in his dreams he was never comparable to Ray Leonard

 

Post Leonard, Norris loved to stand and exchange and throw those clubbing punches. Duran would lure him into it. I think Duran who KOd Moore would edge him on points in a slugfest.

 

The 83 vintage of Duran may just of had enough to beat Terrible Terry. Using a mix of foul blows, cunning, intimidation, aggression, a sneaky right and crowd support, Duran could of pulled off another miracle... Duran WS15.

 

Post Leonard? In the 80s Norris was deciding to go toe to toe with the likes of Julian Jackson.....

This is correct. Detractors may try and say you are crazy, but those people probably never sat and really paid attention to the enhanced physical ability and motor function of Norris. He had middleweight kinetics in a wound up, welterweight body. His speed was matched only by snapping power, his superb conditioning a result of tireless and explosive legs. He would throw blinding combinations and somehow mix in 3 uppercuts when most fighters would throw a hook. He was a very special physical specimen, the only fighter in the 90s to match his athletic ability being Roy Jones.

Sugar Ray certainly went against better opposition...was more tactical had a much better chin. But Norris' physical ability was second to none and certainly comparable to Leonard's or in my opinion, better than his. Felix Trinidad Sr said that if Norris was content to just box someone, there was almost nothing his opponent could do about.

Here's a question...Ive heard some people express the notion that a young Leonard would have annihilated Norris. When Norris fought a 34 year old Leonard, he battered him from pillar to post for every minute of every round. A complete and utter domination. So you mean to tell me that had he met Leonard 6, 7 years earlier that Leonard completely turns the tide and wipes the floor with Norris as some people suggest?

I say thats nonsense.

A bad match-up for Duran..... Duran looked good at age 32 and 152 1/2 pounds in 1983..... Duran had very little flab on him for Davey Moore at MSG....... However, Duran hates boxers who run and move like hell....... As long as Terry Norris doesn't get trapped on the ropes and hit often, he wins a dull decision over Duran..... This being the Duran of 1983 vs. the Terry Norris of 1991...... If Duran can catch Norris, Duran wins.... Its a close call......

Norris had a poor temprament, a fully focussed norris may beat the duran of 83/84 however if norris goes gun hoe every time he'd build some sort of momentum against duran. Hands of stone could make him pay for his wrecklessness,
H2H Norris is one of the greatest i'd have this guy beating the vargases,DLHs,moselys, and some of the bigger welters or this era (margerito,williams,forrest),the trinadad fight could go either way IMO
never underestimate terry norris he was 1 of the best

 

Your on your own with that one. I know what many other regulars will be thinking on your opinion before they even post with their thoughts.

It's my opinion. I have seen quite a lot of Norris actually. And consider him one of the best jr middleweights ever. But H2H many other jr middleweights would have beaten him. Hearns, Duran, McCallum, Wright, etc.
