All I hear is JMM won his 2nd fight with Pac - no mention that Pac DID win their 1st!

Let me begin this thread by saying that my username is DINAMITA as a mark of my support and admiration for Juan Manuel Marquez. I am every bit as much a fan of his as I am of Pacquiao, and I think Marquez sneaked a win in their 2nd fight and that a third fight is necessary to decide who truly is the best fighter on the planet...

...so anyone thinking this is a 'Pac-hugging' or 'Marquez-hating' thread is very very wrong.

I have just watched and scored Pac-JMM I for the first time in a long time tonight, and I think it's worth drawing attention to the fact that I believe this was a win for Manny.

It seems as if a thread is started every other day on this forum about how JMM won the second, but it's only fair that this is balanced by the fact that the decision was also wrong in the first fight, IMO Pac won.

    Here is my scorecard:

    R1: Pacquiao 10-6
    R2: Pacquiao 10-9
    R3: 10-10
    R4: 10-10
    R5: Marquez 10-9
    R6: Marquez 10-9
    R7: 10-10
    R8: Marquez 10-9
    R9: 10-10
    R10: Pacquiao 10-9
    R11: Marquez 10-9
    R12: 10-10
    TOTAL: Pacquiao 116-114

I scored the second fight to Marquez by a point (I re-watched and re-scored that today as well), so I have Pac up by a single point after 24 rounds - a negligible difference I'm sure you'll agree.

Surely they'll have a rematch soon, it just has to happen!:bbb

How did you score Pacquiao-Marquez I?

Pretty hard to call that a "clear" win. It only takes a few of those drawn rounds to go the way of JMM, anybody could see it that way.

I have not seen this in a long long time. Any links flying around?

I haven't watched that fight for a while but i'm pretty sure i scored it 113-113 even.

You have a lot of even round's there DINAMITA and you don't give Marquez a round until the 5th.
I might get around to watching it again in the next couple of day's as my memory is terrible.

Ive seen Pac/JMM roughly 4 or 5 times, I have never scored it & it looked like about an even fight to me, I voted draw because there was no real loser & after all, the judges did score it even also (which usually means jack to me anyway)

I did score fight 2 & Marquez won 115-113 but there was an even rd somewhere that if scored to someone could make the score 115-112 JMM or 114-113 JMM.

It was a close fight & I certainly wont be using the most overused word in boxing - robbery - but I felt Marquez did enough, especially when he took that last rd.

I`ll make a point of scoring fight 1 soon, it wont be a chore thats for sure, great fight.

Just a last note from me: 116-114 is not a "clear" win, but it is closer to being clear than a 1-point margin of victory, which is what I had for JMM in the 2nd fight.

I invariably have a couple of even rounds, that's just how I score fights - and this was a particularly close fight which was very difficult to score, hence the number of even scores.

Many people seem to be of the mindset that an even round is a cop-out and it's better to choose one way or the other even if it was very close, but this is not a view I subscribe to. Despite a natural aversion to fence-sitters in life, it is not fair to make an arbitrary decision on the winner of a round just to avoid an even score. If no-one deserves to lose the round, I will score it even, I think that's only fair.

I didn't give Marquez a round till the 5th because I don't think he definitively won a round till then. JMHO :good

This is the proper way, as I see it. I detest arbitrarily awarding an entire round based on fear of appearing indecisive. An even round is an even round.

As for the scoring of the fights themselves, I don't have my scorecards handy. A third fight should happen, though.

How can you possibly score 5 rounds even? I do believe a win for either fighter can be argued, but no judge on earth would score 5 rounds of boxing even in a twelve round fight. If you split those up into something like 2-2-1 it makes a lot more sense.

i too think you scored too many rounds even. the point here i think is that one judge admitted scoring the fight wrongly in favor of jmm. it should have been a 10-6 round not 10-7 as he scored it and that judge was also the one who scored it as a draw so that win was rightfully pac's
