Another Writer from another website broke this story around the time it happened!

Back in 2001, a story broke of Felix Trinidad possibly fighting with illegal hand wraps in a story that Maxboxing.Com writer Steve Kim talked about in an article. The story goes that representatives of Bernard Hopkins camp went to see Trinidad getting his hands wrapped for the fight, which is customary in boxing, and upon arriving and seeing the wraps on Trinidad's hands, specifically the left hand Team Hopkins contested the wraps and even threatened to cancel the bout, believing the wraps were incorrect. It took the Chief Inspector of the NYSAC to force Trinidad's hands be re-wrapped the correct way, and even then, it didn't take until the third try to get the wraps correctly done.

With the hands correctly wrapped, the title fight between Bernard Hopkins and Felix Trinidad went on, with Hopkins completely and thoroughly dominating Trinidad, stunning him at the end of round 10, and dropping in round 12 to end the fight. Hopkins preformed flawlessly and was dominating on all three judges scorecards at the end of the fight.

Can you read or are you Just playing stupid?

Trinidad's dad never knew what he was doing was wrong. Since he got bigger no one ever questioned these tactics.

The eyebrows started to be raised when Hasim Rahman noticed it when he was in the dressing room for one of titos fights. He was in his opponents dressing room too. Rahman was the one who first said thatwhat they were doing is illegal!

    Okay, Now i actuallt noticed.

Rahman was in the locker room for the Vargas fight. Hw went into both locker rooms and he knew it was illegal. H warned Vargas but they did not pay any mind to it. Rahman and Bernard are good friends, and Rahman gave him the heads up and Hopkins Trainer went into the locker room and Low And Behold

In response to the allegations of illegally wrapping his son's hands, Felix Trinidad, SR. came out saying that he does place a lot of gauze on the hand of all his fighters, but not an excess amount of tape. On the other hand, the representatives of Bernard Hopkins who saw and contested Trinidad's hand wrapping, tell a different story, saying Trinidad's hands had four to five layers of gauze and tape, compared to only having a knuckle pad and then tape.

In a recent interview of Don Felix by Gerardo M. Avila-Planas and David Mesqueue., Don Felix was asked, "Do you think that the Hopkins camp did it (made them rewrap Tito's hand) to get to you psychologically?" and he answered,

There are a couple really important things in this statement by Don Felix.
First, he admits that the New York Commission wouldn't allow him to wrap the hands like he ALWAYS DOES.

There can only be one reason for him not being allowed to wrap the hands that way - it was illegal. Therefore, if that is how he ALWAYS wrapped Tito's hands in the past, the assumption that he always wrapped illegally is not far-fetched . But this time he was forced to wrap the hands in strict accordance to NYSAC rules.

Second, he admits that not being able to use the layers and to put the tape on the skin and over the knuckles, "
