Hamed's Best Win?

Naz was a very good fighter, but he went down hill after he changed trainers. Naz was awesome and exciting, could punch hard and from all angles, strong legs. I wish he had gone back to his original trainer, sad to see him retire.

 

Why do people say Kelley was past it?

After Hamed he still had enough to take Morales into the 7th round in 2000 and Barrera into the 4th in 2003:huh

 

Johnson was his most important win; Vazquez or Badillo his best performance.

 

On one of the Full Monty shows Nazwas matched against an unknown Mexican called Juan Manuel Marquez. The fight was cancelled due to illness and suprisingly never made. Derrick Gainer and Freddy Norwood were also not considered opponents despite reguarly requesting the bouts. Naz would have beat them both i'm sure, but not without difficulty.

 

Are you been sarcastic? Kelley was considered finished after his loss to Gonzalez. The Barrera and Morales losses were one sided beat downs. :good

The manner of his loss was very bad and confirmed that he was not the fighter the american press had initially made him out to be. He was considered lower top ten at best and pioneered the WBU title while real world champions in the division took the tough fights.

Look folks, lets face facts here. when history looks back on the great feathers of all time from each & every era, Hamed wont be talked about.

A great character was naz, funny as hell & very talented. However, NO defining wins on his resume.
When it came to the crunch, naz almost never even came out to fight Barrera he was so scared beforehand. The older forum members will remember Naz almost doing a non-appearance when it came to fighting a true Feather hall of famer.
Larry Holmes admitted he nearly turned back during his ring entrance againt Mike Tyson, he was SO scared. & thats a legend Im talking about here.
Naz did the same, took him ages to come out, & when he eventually did like Larry he was a lamb to the slaughter. Larry was an old man by this time, but naz had no excuses. He bottled it, & boxing history wont be kind to a man that froze when he stepped up to elite. THATS THE TRUTH.

Only people who will talk about Naz kindly in the distant future is people from these shores who enjoyed his Ali style antics & the corkscrew uppercut myth .Otherwise, he will be forgotten.

can anyone seriously see Hamed being spoken about in the same breath as Barrera, Morales, Pacquiao & even Marquez? Its time to take of the rose tinted spectacles.

 

Have to agree with this, there is far too much of this goes on, fighter loses one bout, fighter is automatically finished, shot, past it etc... Who knows maybe he just had a bad night or ran into an inspired fighter or a stylistic nemesis. Kelley had rebounded well from the Gonzalez loss, since then he had wins over former world champs Louie Espinosa and Jesus Salud, a knockout of Derrick Gainer and a draw with future super bantam champ Bones Adams. Kelley at the time was ranked #3 featherweight by Ring I think. He had earned his shot at redemption

Kelley did get battered in both Morales and Barrera fights, but he was badly faded by the first, completely done by the second.
