And I tell you, the ref shouldve stopped that fight ... Bute couldve seriously gotten hurt.

If he officiated the fight properly ... the fight shouldve been stopped. Bute was out on his feet, he could barely stand up, he wasn't punching back ... you couldve blew on him and he wouldve fell ... he was definitely out of it and couldve gotten hurt really bad.

Worst thing about it was ... after Bute dominated the majority of the fight ... Andrade was truly robbed in the end ... he shouldve gotten that stoppage victory.

I'm sure that Bute's team wouldn't have had a problem with that ...

I thought that refs were supposed to look out for the fighters and their saftey ...

Looking back what do you guys think?

Bute was looking like a zombie in that fight. Imagine if fights were still 15rds.

I was thinking that whole time that the fight shouldve been stopped ... I don't care what he had done in the early rounds ... he couldve seriously got hurt ...

He was out cold on his feet. The ref didnt even make him stand on his 2 feet, he was leanng on the ropes.

Then the 10 count was ridiculous ... that was one of the worst referee jobs i've seen ...

He didn't notice that Bute was holding ... that Bute could barely stand ... that Bute wasn't punching back ... ????

It was a judgment call to be made by the ref. I thought it would have been okay to stop the fight with about 30s left but it's up to the ref.

Some would have stopped it. Some would have let it go.

There are hundreds of example of both outcome in the great history of boxing. People act like this situation has never happened before. Gimme a break.

Ultimately, Bute proved the referee made the right choice by being able to survive the round (just). It seems Andrade was pretty tired too since he pretty much had an helpless opponent in front of him and he wasn't able to land a meaningful punch until there was only 3 seconds left in the fight.

    Meldrick Taylor v JCC

winning the majority of the fight and then all of a sudden gets stopped in the last seconds ... but in the end it was justified.

same goes with Shane Mosley's most recent win against Ricardo Mayorga ... 1 sec to go in the fight and the fight gets stopped.

the ref should have stopped it right after bute staggered to the ropes prior to the kd. he was clearly defenseless. but we all know that the ref was on the payroll so f it. we should just demand for a rematch

It did seem ridiculous when I first saw it. But after watching the replay. It seems "fine". Andrade did get out of the neutral corner and walked halfway across the ring. The ref has to stop the count and order him back in the neutral corner. Ultimately, it didn't matter tho. Bute was up at 7-8. The fight was over as soon as he got up.

Bute was flopping across the ring like a fish, he should've been stopped.

Bute was ****ed but he got up before the 10 count and the round was over...really nothing that controversial about it but Wright was helping him out a bit by being very strict on the rules with that call he made.

It seems the Bute-Andrade fight changed the perception about the ending of the Taylor-JCC fight. Before the Bute-Andrade fight. Most people thought the Taylor-JCC fight shouldn't have been stop. Now it's the opposite.

As far as the Mosley-Mayorga fight is consern. Now that's one of the worst referee job I've ever seen. Mosley was 3 feet away from Mayorga before he even got up. Circling around him waiting for the ref to finish the 8 count. The ref should have stopped the count and sent Mosley back to the neutral corner.

Besides the fact that bute has a questionable chin and stamina, i think he took andrade lightly.

Bute was clearly a deadman walking in that round.

i was there, bute was a deadman on his feet, look like he was ploughed over by a truck. bad reffing, yes. strange rules saved him. but it was a 20 count.
i felt kind of embarrased for bute actually. the crowd walked away very quietly.
bute was well ahead on the cards, then tried exchanging at the end to please his fans, which we all did not want, because it was clear he would not win that way.
