No, Fitch will pick him apart on their feet, even if Fitch aint top class for striking. If Fitch dont want to go to the ground, he wont. Shields's standing is too weak.
It's a good matchup that would determine the #3 welterweight in the world. Shields beat Fitch in a grappling match a few years ago, but I think Fitch would take an MMA fight.

Exactly. Even though Fitch was recently awarded his BJJ black belt, Shields is by far a better Jiu Jitsu artist. But I give the standing advantage to Fitch. I think Jon's elite wrestling ability will negate Shields get the fight to the ground. I would take Fitch by decision.
