Yes Floyd is without question a better boxer than Cotto, but he MUST stay off the ropes against Margo. He got away with it with plenty of other fighters, but he wouldn't with Margo.

Agreed. I am sure he is smart enough to stay off the ropes though.

IMO Cotto has a bit more pop in his shots along with two good hands and that didnt help, it would be worse for Floyd even though Floyd is the better of the two, he lacks what it takes to keep Tony off of him for the full 12

PBF was also injured going into that fight with a bad shoulder. You saw the real PBF in the rematch where he won clearly.

All pressure fighters aren't the same and about the only thing that Margo and JLC had in common in the ring are the fact they are both Mexican. JLC used an educated jab to work his way inside to work his magic and could cut off the ring as well. Margo just walks in following you around not cutting off the ring without working behind a jab and is wide open. A prime JLC is a much better pressure fighter and technically sound fighter than Margo ever was.

He will get injured in this fight as well Pimp C, no way can he hurt Margarito with a shot, his hands will break before that happens, and the difference here is you cant afford to be hurt in there with a guy like Margarito, taking nothing away from Castillo but Margarito is a much bigger stronger man than Castillo was, and if Floyd has the slightest of injuries during the fight he is doomed.

BTW, in the Cotto fight early on I thought Margarito used a pretty darn good jab.

PBF is at home against the ropes he has excellent rolling techniques and has excellent punch anticpation as well. Possibly one of the greatest of alltime there. He can counter a slow wide guy like Margo all day and see those shots coming from a mile away. Not to mention he can tie up or put that elbow in Margo's throat and get off shots. Margo will not be able to take advantage of PBF there like he did Cotto who had no clue when he got to the ropes.
BTW when have you seen him in any trouble there? You haven't.

With castillo he was in trouble there, hell he was looking for the ref to help, he was also switching to southpaw, but that was years ago, he has filled out nicely, However DLH had him in trouble there a couple of times but that depends on what your definition of trouble is, if your saying hurt your right he hasnt really got hurt there, but he has been there long enough for a guy like Oscar to get shots off, and if its the same thing with Margarito who does bang much better to the body, he will for the first time be in visable trouble.

Let me ask you this? Since when do you have to hurt someone in order to give out a boxing lesson? PBF didn't hurt Baldo but still mananged to win every round going away. What you fail to realize is that Margo is a plodder he doesn't have the footwork needed in order to beat someone like PBF who can hit him and move out of range before he can get off. If he could close the distance like Hatton could then you might have an argument but he can't. Margo isn't comfortable fighting like that he wants you to stand in front of him and needs his feet to be set in order to be effective. Look at the clinic Cotto was giving out when he was sticking and moving. Margo really had no answer for it and it wasn't even Cotto's style but he was highly effective with it early on. So now you take a guy like PBF with even better footwork than Cotto, faster hands, better stamina, better defense and chin and you get a UD win for PBF. It's really that simple.

I will say this. Yes if PBF hurts his hands very early in the fight he could be in trouble.

You mean in round 5 where PBF countered Oscar beautifully and beat him to the punch when his knees buckleled and he held on to PBF?:D PBF was never in any danger against Oscar those body punches had no power behind them and he saw then coming. He also rolled Oscars' punches later in that fight and was laughing his ass off while doing so. Oscar throws with more handspeed and straighter punches than Margo does so if he can take Oscar's punches like nothing he can do the same to a much slower guy with wider shots like Margo. Trust me Margo is too easily countered to do any damage to PBF against the ropes. He's simply too wide and slow.

At the moment he's the no.1 welter id like to see a rematch with PW but i dont think it will happen as he moved up

I think if he fights PBF and keeps the pressure up (like against Cotto) he could be the first to defeat floyd
