Cotto & Carlos arent on the same level, & styles make fights!

Mosley is old and throws 1 shot at a time i dont think this s a valid comparison, back to the quintana fight though. It can be said also that Q just caught Paul on an off night.

Margarito is so overrated. Fact is we have a lot of guys moving up in weight to welterweight and that is why Margarito does better. if he fought legit welterweights from the past he losses easily.

Williams cut weight all wrong. Went too far up leading up to the fight and was sluggish because of this (go look at his body and visably slowed movement in the fight). But never made excuses, instead coming back and destroying Quintana.

I think your off night comment holds weight.

If we go by that then i will say that Paul caught Margo on a off night!

Give the guy his prop's he beat and gave Williams he's first lost deal with it.

As for all the Margo fans knocking Paul because of the Quintana loss....

Carlos is 100x the fighter Rodney Jones, Larry Dixon and Victor Lozoya are.

    Just sayin'...

(btw, I realize that Tony has since improved, and is a much better fighter now than all three of those fighters who defeated him...but guess what, the same is true of Williams and Quintana, only Quintana is LEAGUES ahead of those guys)

Cotto is a mid range - inside pressure fighter....Quintana is an mid range - outside fighter who uses movement and timing. They are two entirely different styles. Quintana's style matches up better against Williams style...hense he was able to hit the holes easier from the outside. Cotto would have to get in close to do the same, and getting in there against Williams is no easy thing...ask Margarito.

Yes I do...that was the point of the quote. Bringing up one loss, yet ignoring everything else is an effort in futility.

I said that Margo has improved to become much greater fighters than any of them...but that still doesnt change that he lost to them. Just like Williams has since Quintana.

    Not really...

Margo's style doesnt match up well with Williams at all. He is a pressure fighter, who does his best work on the inside. He has the chin of Michael FREAKING Myers, but also leaves that chin wide open when coming in to do that work. His movement, tho relentless, is plodding and deliberate (not a knock on him, just the truth). Vs Williams, he faced a fighter who does his best work from the outside, with speed and power...and whose movement is fast and doesnt keep him in harms way for a long time.

I like Margo alot. He is one tough SOB and is insanely fun to watch. But he does not match up with Williams at all. I would pick Paul 9 times out of 10 to beat him. Stylisticly, he is just at such a disadvantage...as Cotto would be as well.

Wow you guys are missing the point of the comment...

Anyway...has his comp gotten better? YEAH!

After losing to Quintana, he then came back and BEAT Quintana. Then moved up to MW and DESTROYED a genuine 160lber (which was obviously more to see how he could handle 160 than actually go for a name first). Then fought a TOUGH fighter in Phillips, who is on the decline, but still a top fighter at a division above what Williams is accustomed to.

So yes, he comp has gotten better. Names on a resume are all well and good...what Williams is doing right now is more than that. Hopefully the public will take notice and Williams himself will become a draw...making the names have to fight him.

Yea.. go watch the last three rds, Mosley was throwing one punch at a time and serveral times let him off the hook. You could hear Jack mosley n the corner saying " Hit his ass shane, his ass is hurt, let your hands go"

I gotta disagree, at the time in their careers, Verno & Kolle arent any better than Carlos
