If its an even fight why am I getting my ass jumped on by Hatton fans for daring to pick Cotto? That is how I see the fight, pre-Malignaggi version of Cotto. Or this version of Cotto. As long as Cotto is healthy, he doesn't lose that fight IMO
Theres no possibly at 147. Its a cotto win 140, is a differant story, Cotto was never comfortable and seemed green at times and was taken to the depths a couple of times, aka torres.. Good fight at 140
I still don't think that Cotto, Margarito and Williams deserve to be in a separate and higher category than guys like Hatton, Dawson, Kessler and Haye. In the p4p rankings you have the Elite few fighters (Mayweather if he comes back, Pacquiao, Marquez, Calzaghe, Hopkins - there is an argument for Vasquez too, he is borderline), but then you have a raft of fighters who are at a similar level of quality just now, similar points in their careers, similar resumes, similar achievements, similar prospects: Elite- Mayweather, Pacquiao, Marquez, Hopkins, Calzaghe, maybe Vasquez Level 1- Rafael Marquez, Arthur Abraham, Margarito, Williams, Cotto, Hatton, Dawson, Kessler, Haye, Ivan Calderon I don't think there is clear enough daylight between any of the Level 1 guys to justify splitting it into two.
Absolutely 100% correct. I said the exact same thing. I don't see two "elite" categories. That devalues the status. I agree with your examples too. It seems a little harsh on the more proven fighters in the level 1, such as Marquez and Hatton to be bundled with Abraham etc, but essentially they all havn't quite got to that elusive status.
He's the top dog at 140 but I don't know how much that means. That's his ceiling. If he fights at 147 he most likely loses. His win over Malignaggi meant absolutely nothing despite what people say. Paulie has no power whatsoever, thus making him a one dimensional fighter and let's face it, you can't outbox everyone. With no power to worry about Hatton could have done whatever he wanted. Ngoudjo should have gotten the nod against Paulie. I'm not surprised about the direction Hatton's career is going in. Fighting guys who can't hurt him and smaller fighters to keep the train going. After Lazcano, who could blame him?
Totally ridiculous, your saying N'dou and Urkal and good wins for Cotto but Urango and Maussa aren't for Hatton?? and Ben Tackie was way before any of these fights. Your saying Cotto had the better opposition. Paulie, Urkal, N'dou, Quintana is that better than Tsyzu, Urango, Maussa, Collazo, Castillio I don't think so
Cotto's resume is better than Hatton's at the moment. Hatton's win over Tszyu beats anything on Cotto's resume IMO, but overall Cotto still has the stronger res.
Noobs...:-( Let me give you a hint to help you on your way around here. Before you quote me and spout ****, at least read my post. I was comparing opposition during the period Cotto was at 140, as I was discussing what would have happened should the fight have taken place back then. Hence Castillo would not even be included. I think Malignaggi, Quintana, Torres, Urkal, N'dou, Maussa and Corley are better opposition than Tszyu, Urango, Maussa and Ben Tackie as it was at the time. Then if you want to go further than that, taking their overall body of work, that would add Judah and Shane to Cotto's resume, and Castillo/Malignaggi/Collazo to Hatton's. I still prefer Cotto's resume, it has more depth.
:-( Sorry mate. I totally agree with the rest of your post, but not Lovemore. Witter beat him as easily as Cotto did.
