What does Calzaghe have to do to surpass RJJ and BHOP?

I think he has a very good case in having already passed RJJ. But who does Calzaghe have to beat to be ranked above them all time?

He has no case for passing Roy Jones.

get a time machine to go back in time and fight better dudes,
or have a few more big fights before retiring; Dawson, Erdei, Adamek perhaps...

Roy in his prime would be miles ahead of Calzaghe.

But Calzaghe knew when to retire - so he gets some props for that.

Will not be able to surprass either unless Abraham makes a successful transition up in weight and he beats him, Pavlik beats some good technical fighters and the B-Hop fight looks a one off and then Joe beats him, Joe beats B-Hop decisively in a rematch, Froch beats some World class opponents and then Joe beats him, and Joe beats Chad Dawson.

That's the kind of victories that would give him a resume close to Hops or Roys.

  8. Yep, definitely gonna need to get cracking on the books and come up with the development of a time machine - except that would just get his ass royally kicked and he would return to the present and find himself a mailman or something.

    Time machine idea is interesting.

Maybe there's an alternate reality somewhere where Hopkins actually signed the contract to fight Calzaghe back in 2002.... :blood

  10. Why not '98? Joe could have skipped the bums he fought that year and called Hop a ***** some place and I'm sure he could have got the fight then and there.

Because in 1998 he was unknown to US networks and Hopkins was only IBF champion at middleweight. No reason for Hopkins to step up to SMW then and no money in doing so.

Whereas, in 2002, he had an offer from Showtime on the table.

  13. He had the WarrBO and Hop was never adverse to taking an easy fight. Smarting off to his face would have surely gotten him to approve some kind of date especially after watching the tape of the Eubank fight.

he cant worry about trying to pass anyone.just worry about his own career and legacy.if he wants to have the better career, he can start by fighting and beating chad dawson !all in all i think he is maxed out and he should just retire on top.
