He had no guarantee he would have won if he wouldn't clinch. He didn't use bad judgement,it just happened. He ran out of gas.
More..... Paulie and Ngoudjo were talking heavytrash before the fight. Ngoudjo:''I'm gonna make you my girlfriend in the ring'' Paulie:''On fight night I'm gonna wear pants not a dress so he will know he has to fight me not **** me'' Ngoudjo pretty much ****ed him in the fight.Paulie is an infinite river of idiotic quotes and actions.
It'll definitely help, especially with a fighter like Margo who just keeps coming and coming, anything to disrupt his timing and rythym.
Ok he won't clinch:nut but he'll quit :yep which is basically what he did in the 11th round of that fight...
He did use bad judgement period. Anyone who has ever been in the ring before knows you clinch not only when you are hurt or tired but to break up your opponents rhythm. It was a fundamental boxing mistake.:deal
I may as well take a stand on this issue: Cotto CANNOT and WILL NOT beat Margarito if he refuses to clinch. Please somebody buy Miguel Cotto a video of Bernard Hopkins fighting so that he can see that clinching is nothing to be ashamed of, it is a skillful defensive strategy than when used correctly (sporadically) stops you taking unnecessary punches and greatly increases your chances of victory... and greatly reduces your chances of being seriously/permenantly damaged. With the way Miguel fought in the first half of the Margarito fight (very very good IMO), had he used clinching in the second half, he could've won out. If he refuses to clinch v Margo next time, he will be battered down at some point again. PLEASE MIGUEL SEE SENSE!!!! WATCH B-HOP!
This is the whole point. Clinching is not a survival strategy, it is a strategy you use to win boxing matches, many many greats have utilized this technique.
That's just your opinion.Like always you make it to sound like it's God's. Clinching would have also lost him his chance to K Margarito TFO,altough it was slim.
Doesn't clinch my ass. He but Chop Chop Corley in a bear hug and I think that's what ruined his career. Corley has never been the same after that deadly vice grip like clinch.
Actually, if he was clinching, it would've given him a better chance to win. Forget KO'ing someone, the win is whats important. I'd rather clinch than get beat like he did
