The alphabets serve a purpose but are not necessarily indicative of a champion. To that end, what problem is there with a former titleholder, who is still well regarded in the division, getting a shot at another strap on the back of a victory over a younger prospect?

The Bradley/Holt winner would be unified thats what I meant.Hatton has the meaningless IBO remember IBF I believe is vacant at present.Kotelnik is a name I was going to mention who may deserve a shot should his next defence be successful

I meant more that losing the title and beating Alexander (the trannie) doesn't mean you're breaking the door down for a title shot (although the WBC think otherwise!!) but Witter should get one.

Has anyone seen Alexander fight? It seems clear Don King has been pulling the strings to get him the ranking but maybe he can fight as well....

I've seen him once and he didn't impress me. He's featherfisted, and a barker, like Juan Diaz.

But not as good as Juan Diaz.

Not that Bradley was particularly highly regarded...:-(

Maybe we should agree to disagree but I don't think he would have earned that shot after one comeback win, especially when he was beaten in his own backyard albeit by SD.

Sorry I missed this post. This is basically my take on it as well, after Zoo a Witter-Hatton fight was dead in the water. It would have been a great fight towards the end of Hattons WBU reign when his career was stagnating.

Precisely, and it's good to hear a Hatton fan say that. There were certain needless fights towards the end of his run as WBU belt holder. I don't see how anyone can really try and claim some of those fights were of more interest to the fans than a Witter fight.
