Apparently the road warrior wants this fight. It'd be a good but dangerous step into the 170lb for the Dane. This would be a good indication of how good Kessler can be at handling such a tricky test.

I think he'll remain at super-middleweight for now however.

If it did happen the winner could meet Dawson, no?

Kessler needs to get a move on. This wrangle with his promoter is slowing him right down. I can't see him taking the Johnson fight, pity.

Kessler needs to step up in 09. He's a talked about fighter based on the Calzaghe fight but we ain't seen any more meaningful fights since. He needs to unify with Froch, Bute etc or take on Taylor, wait for Pavlik or Abraham or do something at light-heavyweight.

    Just get a move on!

Exciting fight but I think Johnsons come forward style is ideal for Kessler.

    I suspect a KO around 10.

Id still like to see Kessler fight Taylor. Regardless, it would certainly be an intriguing fight. The last person to TKO Johnson was Hopkins, so I don't think it'll be easy to knock Johnson down.

  7. jOHNSON WINS THIS UD - Kesseler is fair but hasn't faced the quality of fighters Johnson has nuff said, easy pick here...

Interesting fight. Well, any fight with the Road Warrior is interesting as he comes to fight. I would favor Kessler slightly due to Johnson's straight ahead style which will let Kessler land the right hand down the pipe constantly. I actually think Johnson would do better against Calzaghe based on their styles.

Johnson deserves a few more big fights.

    Why?

Surely it dpends who he fights. If he turns it down to fight Taylor, Bute Froch, Hopkins, Pavlik, Abraham, Dawson etc then what would be the problem? Sure, if he turns it down to fight bum like Miranda or something then fine, rip him all you want.

This would be an easy fight for Kessler at any weight. Johnson is nothing more than an aging journeyman boxer. Hopkins knocked him out years ago and so would Kessler.

Chad Dawson would disagree with the "journeyman" label.

I don't think so. Dawson easily out boxed him at times but for some stupid reason he performed inconsistently during the fight. Not that I am an apologist for Dawson. He came out of that fight looking like a talented bum, then had the audacity to claim the fight went according to plan!:nut

Johnson should be the favorite here. Especially if the fight is above 168. Johnson already matched Dawson and Kessler is much smaller than Dawson, with less reach and also not as fast as Dawson.
