How many years has Bo been boxing for?
I can answer that - first fight 06, put on a pair of gloves late 05

    What is his weakness?
I can answer that - Skills, why the **** would you put him in with a guy like Solis?

I can answer that - Either you dont think he can go anywhere and you are looking to cash out (very Early) or you havent done any investigation into who Solis is and you are taking him on 1 veiwing thinking he aint that good!
    Whats all the hype about?

Well Odlanier Solis has had 241 amateur fights with 227 wins.
    How many has Bo had?
    I can answer that - 2 or 3
Solis has also beaten the great Felix Savon on 2 out of 3 occasions about as many times as Bo has had pro fights..

So when you ask why he shouldnt fight him here is your answer.

Odlanier Solis doesnt need to prove anything like Gamboa does because his division sucks and the reason he has looked ordinary (by some scribes expectation) is because he doesnt need to look good yet.

But I can guarentee you when he needs to step it up he will, he is one of those guys that grew up under-privilaged and realised he could have something better and now that he has seen what the world has to offer he is taking his time and enjoying the ride because he sees no threat in the near future.

But mark my words this guy that turns up over weight and looking diss-interested will change over the next year or two to a fit hungry puncher that will take what the Klitchkos Own:thumbsup

Interesting post. I fully agree with the first part, regarding sending Tupou in to get absolutely schooled and humiliated against a far better fighter, for probably quite little money in the big scheme of things. Would simply NEVER happen. You would have to be a promotional ******:yep

The part i highlighted but i don't know if I really agree with...

I haven't been that impressed with Solis so far, not as much as i expected to be anyway. He seems quite lazy and inconsistent. What have you seen that makes you think he could beat either of the Kilts?

One thing that casts doubt in my mind is the Audley Harrison fiasco. A guy who was a very good amatuer, heralded as the next big thing, however showed signs early of being lazy and soon enough came unstuck.

I watched Audley Spar Colin Wilson at Nerang before the Olympics and was not impressed with his intestinal fortitude and this was solitified by watching him try an DOG it in between rounds at the final of the Olympics, so although I hold your opinion in High reguard(due to what I have Read) please dont make me feel like a wanker by comparing Audley Harrison to Odliner Solis:-(

Solis is a great fighter and I believe he has something up his sleeve re his career and what he believes he is up against and I believe he is the definate Sleeper in the Heavyweights.
How much would the opportunities that Haye has been given effect him?
Money can only go so far, he has no attachments.
And believe me what he reads and what makes his desire Burn inside him is the opinion of boxing professors such as yourself:think
Make no mistakes he wants to be the best and will have the last laugh:scaredas:

I might give him a chance against Wlad (that's a big might) but he wont beat Vitali, i dont even think he would beat Haye in a rematch, actually i think Haye could very well blast him out. I too think he reminds me a lil of Harrison.

A nice clip of Solis in the amateurs for those who haven't seen him. Against some guy named David Haye:yep

A clip of Solis as a pro. Notice the extra weight, the speed and snap he has lost off his punch, his reduced work rate, and seemingly lazy footwork.

A very different fighter to the amateur version IMO.

    Very nice vids thanks Jambo......

Wow the first fight was great, but what a change to the Austin fight!!!!

He looked so lazy and unfit.

ID like to see Haye chase a rematch in the pros.

A guy i will be keeping an eye on in the pro's at Heavyweight is Cuban born Irishman Mike Perez.
Its early on in his career but news coming out of Europe is that this guy is the real deal.
Will continue to watch his career closely as it develops.

Fair enough regarding mental strength. I realise that Solis is a far more accomplished amateur than Audley also. Reality is, he was the guy being hyped as the superstar to come out of Cuba, not Gamboa at all. Watching them fight also, it is clear that Solis is far superior technically too Harrison, who tried to rely on his physical gifts far too often. Not that Solis isn't a naturally gifted fighter. Just that he doesn't depend solely on his hand speed and reflexes, or size like Audrey attempted to.

Where i see the similarity is in their dedication to the sport, not the way they fight. A problem that generally troubles Cuban fighters when they actually managed to turn pro (Juan Gomez being a very good example). They go to the US, get too comfortable with the lifestyle, and lose the desire. This is where i see Solis heading at the moment.

I think Solis has all the ability to potentially beat the Klits. But fulfilling it is a different story. They are good champions (now that Wlad has ironed out some of the kinks), who are physical freaks on top of it. For Solis to beat them, he would need to be at his absolute best. Something he appears to be a LONG way from at the moment.

Personally i doubt his ability to suddenly motivate himself. He really should be turning up his intensity progressively, facing harder and harder opponents, and dominating them. In doing so preparing himself for a fighter of their calibre.

Will be interesting to see how he turns out. Looking at the clips of him as a pro however, he doesn't seem half the fighter he was as an amateur. He needs to lose about 20 pounds minimum, and get his workrate back. His stamina in the fight against Haye was superb, he literally broke him down.

Looking at the pro version of him, he has become far too flat footed, far too inactive and just lacks overall intensity, to really make the most of his talent.

I read recently that could be currently Gamboa's problem as well.

    Agree with all that
