Still, this isn't a school playground. Fights have to make business sense and so on. Johnson does sadly have a low profile. Didn't he last fight in the week following Calzaghe-Jones on a Tuesday night, with no TV?

And Kessler not being an American fighter means there is likely not going to be the big money from somewhere like Showtime or HBO (and the fight would be as hard as some of the bigger money assignments, if not harder).

Kessler would probably get alot more reward out of a Taylor fight.

Bika is waiting. If Bute fights Tsypko right away, he could be in an eliminator against Andrade for the IBF title. Zuniga wants to fight at MW. He is definitely too small for the big SMW. What makes you think Green would accept to fight Kessler and what makes you think he would be there on fight night? Lessler has to fight and even if Johnson is not very well known and is indeed as dangerous as bigger names, at least it's a good fight. Much better than Gusmyl Perdomo.

Would Kessler need to ditch his belt if he fought at a catchweight?

I thought you were allowed to fight within 6 pounds of your weight limit and keep your belt (unless yor Kelly Pavlik, then you can fight 10 pounds north of your weight-limit, lose and still keep your belts).

Kessler just fought a mandatory, I didn't think he needed to worry about more title defences for a while.

Pointless fight, another 120-106 or so for Kessler, massive missmatch.

You can fight at whatever weight you want to, as long as you make your mandatory defences at the correct weight when they tell you too.

Johnson's a top LHW and a very tough stylistic matchup for someone as orthodox and predictable as Kessler.

If the fight gets made and Kessler is a 4-1 favorite, I would put down a big chunk of change on this one, and I don't normally bet on sports.

I agree. However, if the others are apprehensive of getting in the ring with Kessler then Johnson may be a good option. I am not surprised that the road-warrior is the one that stands up and shows some nuts here...

I find that surprising, because at the weigh in of him and Mundine, Mundine was extremely lean and just made weight, and Kessler was huge next to him and made the weight.

Johnson beat the crap out of Dawson, but criminal judges gave the fight to their man, Johnson was cheated as should have gotten a rematch.
