There 68 champion in boxing, and only 9 from USA. Chad Dawson (175) Kelly Pavlik (160) Paul Williams (154) Vernon Forrest (154) Andre Berto (147) Kendall Holt (140) Timothy Bradley (140) Nate Campbell (135) Steven Luevano (126) None of them inside any top10 p4p, Holt and Luevano are weak champion, Bradley is still unproved.
......awaits the usual ''they are all playing NFL, NHL, NBA''. Even though in England they have Rugby League, Rugby Union, Football, Cricket etc etc and many other countries could say the same thing.
Is there really one country with a **** ton of top fighters/champions, or and def. in the top p4p... Badass avatar p4pdabest.
Thanks my dude. I'm thinking about taking it down because everytime I get into it with a poster they say some disrespectful stuff like "you look like a ****** in your avatar" & its pretty messed up cause they dont even know. What do you think, can you shoot me some advice?
IMO its more to do with more competition than much of a decline. fighters come from many more countries than they used to and naturally that has led to a more diluted american top 10 in each division. america needs a top heavy to come along for sure, but is ok in most divisions . what is in decline without doubt is the hardcore audience for boxing in america on american tv and people turning up to watch good boxers live.
The boxing talent here sucks just like the economy:-(, the best fighters here now are Hopkins, Dawson, and Paul Williams, Berto looks good but hasn't been in deep water yet.. It's really sad 30 years ago we had Ray Leonard, Hearns , Hagler, Holmes, Cooney, the Spinks brothers, Ray Mancini, **** i could go on but u get the message, Usa boxing is in the shitter just like the economy...
As always, top shelf posting sir. The OP surely means this as a smear against the American fans on here, but does he really think the decline of boxing in America is GOOD for boxing world wide. I mean really..... Sure Arran loved it though..
Vernon Forrest (154) Andre Berto (147) Timothy Bradley (140) Nate Campbell (135) Steven Luevano (126) may all crash land this year. but i hope you guys get some some up n coming tallent like andre ward or direll etc berto because i believe the unifying of the titles will start this year and he'd dimply not good enough to hold his own against the cottos and margoz. holt or bradley are gona take each other out this year most likely, i think holt will be victorious campbell is in a division thats become a nightmare in the last year and the JMM n Diaz'z r gona clean it up
I wouldnt say **** to someone that says that, its just disrespectful like you said, so Id just write it off and ignore that.. I mean, what would they say to a picture of ODB, haha.
No, I can assure you that none of them are in the NHL. NFL/NBA, for HWs, 100%. The main thing though is that boxing is the red-headed stepchild of American sports. Nobody cares, nobody's famous, nobody has a sneaker line, a tv commercial, multiple appearances on late-night talk shows: boxing exists in a sports vacuum. And because of this kids aren't going into the sport young enough to make an impact.
I don't care who doesn't want to hear it, this has to do with few people learning boxing in the US. The number of boxing gyms has plummeted in the last 20-30 years as more people are doing martial arts or, yes, playing football/basketball etc. If few people do it then gyms close and fewer people watch it so it's less popular so fewer people do it and more gyms close so so it gets less popular and on and on and on. You NEVER see the local news guys talk about local boxing tournaments and even though it makes big PPV bucks the average guy on the street knows all about the NFL and nothing about boxing.
The best fighters today come from , Europe, Russia, or Mexico, American kids just wanna sit on their ass eat cheetos, and play video games lazy ****s, or play team sports where they can rely on teammates..
