    If?

    Dont you mean when?

  5. Morning fellas. Newbie first post! :hi:

Khan really can't afford to lose this one. But if he loses in a tough, hard fought 12 round war then he comes out with some credability restored due to the fact it's Barrera. If he gets sparked again then I'm afraid it's a long way back for him.

Warren's not daft. He thinks Khan will win. Barrera's lighter and smaller, so is unlikely to knock out Khan. Khan's improving, and will have the strength and size to win.

I'm half thinking that might be Frank Warrens plan. If Khan wins, great, they can move onto some more serious fights, if he loses, he's cashed Khan out and can focus on his new Olympic golden boys, and start the process all over again.

    Hiya mate, welcome

I agree, if he loses gallantly he still wins... if you know what I mean

If he gets dismantled spectacularly, well, he was never going to be a top fighter was he. At least we'd know. Barrera is a great but he's old, he's moved up, Khan SHOULD be competitive against him.

That's my take on it and I suspect Warren is thinking similar.

    Sink or swim time.

Well this is it people, we are the ones saying Khan needs to fight better fighters and stop fighting bums, well our wish has come true. Did not see this one coming was a bit of a shock.

Lets see what Khan is really made of, this is his first world level fight.

    ITS MAKE OR BREAK TIME

  10. Thanks for the welcome!

Khan has the physical advantages here (size, reach, speed, work-rate, fitness) but he will have to use them well and be on top of his game to keep Barrera at bay. I think if he approaches it in the same way as he did St. Claire then he should come through on top.

But this is Barrera we're talking about here. Maybe a little shop worn and on the decline but still a very real threat and a class act.

If he gets starched then surely Warren has to walk away? Khan should then realise that professional boxing ain't for him.

i agree with this,i am top of the pile to say khan needs to fight world class fighters
its defo khans first top world class fighter, albeit a smaller man again,a bit past it,not age but amount of tough fights he has had.

if he beats him,all credit to him,BUT,i can see MAB being that little bit better,if he hits khan, goodnight sweetheart:hi:

If he loses he will have a mountain to climb to be taken seriously as a future world champ. It depends a little bit on how he loses. If he gets starched again its time to retire. If he loses on points after a decent effort,he could go back to the domestic and Euro scene for a couple of years and build up a decent enough record then who knows he may get a title shot.

Welcome to the forum mate. Did you use to post on 606 a while back? Remember someone having the same username as you.

Your post is spot on. It all depends on how Khan loses. If he gives it all and ends up losing they can use the 'well Barrera is an ATG' argument. If Khan gets sparked early then he'll have to go back to British level and have to take on the likes of Murray and Thaxton.
