I always thought that this was a rumor until I read it on his column at Philboxing. http://philboxing.com/news/column-1130-21776.html

("Dahil sa plano kong hindi naman magtatagal sa larangan ng pagboboksing, importante na mayroon akong pundasyon para sa isang buhay pagkatapos kong magretiro, marahil sa taong ito.")

"Because of my plan not to stay in boxing for a long time, it is important that I have a good foundation in life before I retire, likely this year."

For the meantime he is finishing a few more courses to get his Degree and community projects he feels is important in life.

I guess 2-3 more fight ..... who are those lucky boxers to have the previledge?

Can u guys stop taking these " retirement " talks so seriously? Jesus.. Every freakin fighter says this **** but never keeps it. " I'm retiring " is something that most fighters love to say.. It's a way of making the fans miss them.

    WRONG.

How much money do you think you need to retire in the Philippines? ... compare of that to somebody like PBF needs to retire in the States. Floyd will be back from retirement after the IRS gets their 6M.

Pac is always running for office and losing - just like Vitali Klitschko.

That quote shouldn't be taken seriously - it's common for a superstar to dangle retirement as bargaining leverage to raise his price.
Roy Jones, de la Hoya, Calzaghe and others have used it before.

This retirement talk is because Pacquiao is in the middle of negotiations for the Hatton fight, and looking to get a financial edge on a future showdown with Mayweather Jr.

You're wrong noob. How many fighters announced reitrement and actually stayed retired?

It's not always about money. Of course even right now pacman can retire and live like a king in the Filipines but he'd still have that fighter's instinct inside him. He's still young and he'd sooner or later have that urge to get into a tear up.

Oh no, Pacman is threatening to retire, he's pulling a Mayweather move.

He knows his body better than anyone else and he has taken a lot of punishment.
Nothing wrong with knowing when to move on.
