Simpson Vs Truscott

The tide had turned before the fight ended, Simpson was well on top. Truscott was giving him mad props at the post match interview.

 

you should be prud of you sone mate.he showed good sportsmanship there last night,it was a bit of a shame though he had to tell the fans to give simpson a bit of respect.

Thought Paul fought really well, fast, sharp and good boxer. Really did lack power to cause any significant harm to someone as tough as John and I was almost certain one time or another John was going to eventually put him down... them body shots were taking their toll.

Unlucky for Paul to lose the way he did but looking forward to a rematch back up our neck of the woods if its going to happen

Well Simpson said this in todays paper

"I believe I was ahead on points & its just unfortunate the situation led to the ref calling a halt."

I think Simpson genuinely believed he was ahead on points, & was just being polite to your good self:good

 

ice man,simpson offered paul a rematch instantly,how can you call him a cheat?have you ever boxed?if so you must realise heads clash on many occasions.so eat a slice and give simpson credit

 

Billy, I assume that you are referring to me, I thought that the :yep at the end of the post would have indicated that I was actually joking. However, having served 9+3 in a Scottish regt., being married to a Scottish wife and having 4 half breed kids I reserve the right to call any Jock a cheating Scottish **** at any and every opportunity :yep.

On a serious note, I thought that Truscott was ahead on points and even though Simpson was coming back into the fight I didn't think that he would have had enough to take the decision. A clash of heads is a poor way to decide a fight, but thems the rules. Looking forward to the re-match. :deal

 

Got to laugh here the injury didnt look that bad?? !! Pauls eye could hardly open hence why referee had to step in. If he would have carried on defo knock out, john was walking through pauls punches and when john landed punches on paul he was hurt. As for cheating scottish ****?? Have some respect you call yourself a boxing fan and you come online sayin this? what about the times when john has been robbed? many a times. He trained really hard and he deserved to win this belt. If Paul can sit on Live tv and show some respect you should too !!

Hi Pauls Father im johns sister i spoke to him 2day regarding this about he said he was losing easily? he said he has no clue what you are on about he would never say that and he knew he was winning. Paul is a great lad all our family have so much respect for him sitting there on live tv and congratulating john, true sportsman. If there is a rematch look forward to seeing you in Glasgow.

As i thought/guessed it would be a good battle. A shame people keep saying headbutt when it was a HEADCLASH, there is a difference. The first round Truscott looked very comfy, taking the centre. From there on in the rounds were close and he was maybe throwing less but more accurate but Simpson was walking right at him and hurting him.Truscott was NOT liking those body shots. Why does Truscott turn his back so much and do a wee run, it looked like that to me. It wasnt like he used it to fire up a counter.

Simpson looked suddenly tired around the 6th i think but then i guess he was just going easy waiting for the home run. Truscott certainly gave a good fight but seemed to throw less and less punches. I also suspect he was saving himself for the home run also. Very sharp puncher but just didnt throw enough. His corner were constantly telling him to jab but he didnt, a great jab he has too.

All in, it was a great step to. Truscott is a great looking fighter given his pro experience and a great person too from what i saw afterwards. The interview was great from both fighters.

The cuts rule certainly is a gray/grey area. I would like to see it go to the cards also but what in the future if a fighter knows he is well ahead and for example dosent want his cut worse or wants an early night and drops hints to the corner/doctor etc ? Was it Truscott i heard yelping with the pain ? It seemed to swell down from stoppage to interview, aye?

I guess a few only saw the "headbutt" and missed all the punches he took to that area eh ?
