Kelly could have been the savior of American boxing. Think about it, here we had an exciting white champion who was brutally knocking guys out left and right. That kind of a fighter is very marketable here. I was even hearing a little bit of talk about him in the mainstream.

Too bad he unnecessarily took the fight with Hops and got owned big time. He'll have to accomplish a lot from now on to overcome that loss and even more to become a boxing sweetheart again. Damn,:-( we had a shining star here who's light was just whiped out, atleast temporarily.

Not if you are truly fighting the best and not fighting to protect you OH. But that thread has already been done and I'm not restarting it here.

In the end it could help. Proof he wasn't about protecting his 'OH'.

Hopkins makes just about everybody he fights look bad. Kelly will be fine.

Man, I bet you if you took a poll and asked, I try to respect all posters and fighters, just try to enjoy ESB to the fullest with a smile.

    But I'ma say this: **** your thread.:bart

What the **** kind of **** is that any way. The kid just won his first title, had one mando defense ( and it was against his WBO, and we know how TOUGH those WBO mando's are), and he gets put in 2 weight classes higher against MR. Bernard ****in' Hopkins on a night he should have postponed (this can be verified), and you gonna ask if he's a BUST??

****in' **** me off, ruin my morning, wtf is goin on in here these days??

    I'm out.

He's a bust ... because I doubt he's going to be looking for big fight for a while ... no matter what anyone says ... he was on the verge of getting knocked out against Bernard Hopkins.

I would be interesting to see what happens between him and Rubio and if he's successful will he challenge Arthur Abraham?

Due to most peoples' incompetence, this thread reeks of suck. KP is a proven fighter who happened to go up against a motivated Bernard Hopkins; a tough beast of a fighter, one of about the 20-30 best to ever lace up a pair of gloves. There's really no shame in that. Let's all give KP the respect he deserves as the middleweight champ; I mean, hell, at least when he fights you know it'll be exciting; that's more than one can say about most of the 'champs' out there.

He was on the verge of getting knocked out vs Taylor yes, but he wasnt vs Hopkins for god sake, he was hurt yes and had some shaky legs for about 2 seconds, if he was knocked down, he would have come up and continue fighting due to his impressive recovery skill

No kidding. I thought the one shining value of the Hopkins fight was that Kelly actually looked stronger as the fight wore on. Someone on her (booradley maybe?) said Kelly would have been sparked had it gone 15; I disagree. I think that Kelly showed that he could go a hard 12 rounds in that fight, and would they fight again I'd probably say KP takes a good 3-5 rounds (against B-Hop that is something to brag about IMO.)

Neither. He was and still is a one-dimensional fighter, who is pretty damn good in that dimension, great power, stamina, punch output, heart and mental mojo, but serious problems if the jab, that sets up everything doesn't work, if the opponent brakes his rythm and gives him a lot of lateral movement, he's unable to adapt to different styles and has serious defensive holes, especially vs. combinations. He's a cool guy with a lot of potential in him IMO only a multi-dimensional, more experienced trainer can bring out, great fanbase, exciting style.

He is the MW champion, and a fun guy to watch. That's Kelly Pavlik.

Not quite a hero yet, and certainly not a bust. Neither at the moment, though I lean much more towards hero.
