Margarito Will DEMOLISH Berto

The **** are you talking about man?! Margo is the kind of fighter who has the potential to throw 120 punches very single round. And if I remember correctly he set a prety busy pace early on in the Cintron fight did he not?

Not just that, but Berto is certainly one prety small welterweight. I've always thought so, and yesterday proved it as Andre clearly looked like the smaller man compared to Collazo. Now imagine how much of a size advantage a giant welterweight like Margo would hold over him. :shock:

As far as pace goes, Margarito has the 12-round Compubox record for punches thrown (1675). You were saying?

Margarito would wreck Berto. It would be ugly, much uglier than Margarito-Cotto. Even Berto's more reasonable fans know how this one would go.

The only welterweight who has been able to do anything with Margarito in years is a guy who also has a frantic pace and is a physical freak. His name isn't Andre Berto, and he's not 5' 8.5" with a 72" reach.

Putting Berto in the ring with Margarito would be like chumming the waters for a great white shark. Berto would be devoured. It might be a contest for a few rounds. Maybe.

Berto is a good fighter for what he is and at the point of development he is at. But he's not close to the level of Margarito, Cotto, Williams or Mayweather. He fought hard last night but struggled mightily against a guy with little power who is best known for close losses. Much was learned about Berto, and a lot of it isn't necessarily good for him and his fans.

I know some would love to have another guy who could supposedly challenge Margarito. Berto is not that guy, and I doubt he ever will or could be.

 

Agreed ... Margarito would beat up Berto pretty bad ... Berto has bad footwork and doesn't know how to pivot or sidestep.

Exactly right. And that means he would be a sitting duck for some of those looping uppercuts and widely-thrown hooks by Margarito. If Collazo and his feeble power had Berto shook bad in round 1, imagine what a whirlwind of bombs from Margo would do against a not-defensively-skilled Berto?

 

Both are in the same division so it will eventually happen if Berto keeps the title.

 

wouldn't mind seeing berto vs. cintron at this point. had high hopes for berto to be part of a new fab four along with pw, margo, and cotto, but definitely not part of the club. in love with his power too much and in serious need of defensive skills. badly. collazo is a difficult fighter, but not a big puncher. i wouldn't count berto out just yet, would rather see him at 140

 

He isn't that powerful IMO.

OK - Forbes and Collazo both possess iron chins, but still.....

He has been carefully matched to date. He lost last night, and will lose again as soon as he fights a top-5 welter.

 

Thank you. How is a fight between two champs in the same division not relevant? Except, maybe, because Berto's team might (and should) keep Andre about a galaxy away from Margarito.

 

Margarito has decent boxing skills when he wants to use them and he's very good at picking off shots, along with ducking and slipping at times.
He works hard to create an opening and when he does that he often abandons his defense.

Add to that Collazo was catching Berto with some lethal uppercuts ... I know that thats Margarito's money punch and he would just take Berto deep, wear him down, and knock him out.

 

Berto is not ready to unify any titles ... I would like to see someone force his hand and vacate their belt to become his mandatory.

 

Another great point. I thought Collazo won by a point but I gave and give Andre a lot of credit for his performance and grit last night. That said, I don't think he's ready for any of the 'big boys' in the division and that list likely includes Mosley. Cotto would box his ears off and probably wear him down. Floyd? Please. Williams would roll unless he had a Quintana I flashback and Margo would go wrecking ball on him. I think Cintron might bomb him out as well if he could time his shots.

 

Berto is a B level fighter. Quintana would even beat him, probably with ease.

I think u r somewhat right and the defining factor in margo winning would be the fact that he is HUGE and berto is small....I don't care what weight he cam in at..the guy is small

 

So then why did Ruiz lose to RJJ, or Willard lose to Dempsey, or DLH lose to Pacquiao, or Tyson beat so many fighter with ease, or Castillo beat Corrales, or quintan beat Williams.

Height doesn't matter dude, how many fights need to prove that to you?
