These guys have to be the worse boxing commentators alive. I mean Bob Papa kept saying that Berto went down, Lennox IMO does not believe half the **** that comes out of his mouth, and Max is well.....a nuthugger at best, Im sure this thread has been strated over and over again. But....Its just really that bad.

 You are always going to hear "He is definitely hurt" at least once during a boxing broadcast if Lennox Lewis is commentating......I actually get a kick out of hearing Lewis commentate.

"He is definitely getting punched hard in the face".

If Max Kellerman would just calm the hell down once in awhile, he'd be alright.

They were brutal last night. It reminded me of the worst times of HBO when they were trying to sell everyone on the greatness of Jermain Taylor. Straight-out shilling. Lennox was pathetic with his nuthugging and rationalizing.

I got a good laugh off that last night. Berto went down? :huh Really? What was Poppa smokin' last night?

Lennox is never good. Always just kind of mumbles and stammers through everything he says.. and says 'definitely' a lot for no particular reason.

Max is just too biased and loudmouthed for my taste. I feel like kicking his teeth in every time he goes off on one of his nuthugging rants and gives little credit to the other guy. **** like that just gets annoying.

He couldn't shut up about what a great young fighter Berto was. The 'a loss will be good' stuff was to try to cover up for Berto's bad showing and looking like he was going to lose. I'm not saying Lennox was coherent in his nuthugging, just that he was doing it. He was the 'straight shill' last night, kind of like how Lampley was regarding Taylor and Cotto when each man lost. I thought Lennox was pathetic last night. Babbling about Berto and his holding, and the point deduction. Sad.

It was strange. And Papa is an excellent, seasoned announcer (and the radio voice of the football Giants). I realize that in some sense the ropes may have prevented Berto from falling (arguably), but the referee definitely didn't say anything, so it was not a knockdown. I kept waiting for Max or Lennox to gently correct him.

Lol. I must be the only fan in the world who really likes Lennox's comments. "Definitely". Kellerman is generally annoying in the extreme, and HBO-fighter-biased, but last night actually sounded much more impartial. Of course, I had had a bunch of beers by that point, so maybe my recollection is a little clouded.

I like the HBO commentators especially Max. He calls it like he sees it and isn't afraid to call out bull**** too.

I didn't have a particular problem with Max last night. He gets excited over the sport he covers, and I can "definitely" empathize with that. Lennox should stop being graded because the uniformity of his dismal results is ostensibly not doing anything. For whatever reason, Papa's continual reference to Berto being "dropped in the first" irritated me immensely. By the end of the fight, I was almost yelling at my television when he reiterated.

Yeah, it's like when they kept saying that Calzaghe was knocked down against Eubank, not just once but multiple times over the course of a couple of fights....you fricken morons! Stop saying it, it's wrong!

I feel real bad for you Americans. The boxing commentators we usually get in Britain - esp on Sky - are fantastic. Whenever we have to sit through an American commentary team, i'm disgusted by their ignorance and their complete lack of passion. Half the time i get so pissed off i turn the volume off and watch the fight on mute.

I'm sure you could get sometihing done about it if enough of you write in and complain.

I disagree, I always found ours just didn't seem to make the same atmosphere as the Americans.
