De la Hoya- would he be considered an ATG if he had retired after Mayorga?

Do you realize how amazingly stupid you sound right now? You asked me for about two pages to post something that I already posted... in order to defend my stance that I already defended.:patsch Now... you talk about Jesse James Leija and Camacho.. as if they are the only topics of discussion. Amazing.

F.F.Sakes..... DLH is an ALL-TIME great fighter........ He's well on his way to the HOF after he announces his full retirement from the ring....... WTF? :patsch

Did Ray Robinson's 1965 loss to Joey Archer hinder or ruin his legacy?:huh C'mon, think about it........:hat

Does anybody hold Ali's '80 TKO loss to Larry Holmes against him??:-(

this is my last post to you if you're not smart enough or have enough self respect to answer what i'm asking you.

i know it's normal for some people to use this 'dismissive' reaction when you don't know what to say when someone tackles you openly, but i'm not going to humour you just because you don't know how to answer.

and the truth is you don't...

you're the only one starting a post with a judgment, you're not backing up what you have to say, and all you're doing is fumbling around on a topic about one of your favourite fighters that you chose to defend on this site - but when push comes to shove you break up and have no idea what to say - when all you should be sayng is why i'm wrong and why.

you're young and you're insecure - and your reply to this will reflect that 100% because up until now you just don't know any better.

    have a nice night...

this is my last post tonight.

Nice try. Once again... I had already posted what you were asking me to post. It isn't my fault that you didn't read it. Then... when I quoted it again, and pointed it out to you... you had nothing to say but to discredit his wins over Leija and Camacho. Wow... you really showed me man.:admin

Ok well I rank Duran top 10 alltime...On my new list he is currently 7, but I know I had him 8 for a long time, I think I just mixed up order at some point. Either way he is 7-8 alltime on my list.

Now Ive heard you say you think Duran is vastly overrated and you back it up with your reasoning, I disagree with it though.

I base that on the vast amount of film Ive seen of Duran and his impressive record in his prime and out of his prime. He is one of the best fighters you will see in their prime.

His absolutely cleaned out lightweight during his reign and more or less took out many of the top guys at 140 in between his lightweight defenses.

    Esteban Dejesus
    Ken Buchanan
    Ernesto Marcel
    Vilomar Fernandez
    Saoul Mamby
    Guts Suzuki
    Hiroshi Kobayashi
    Ray Lampkin
    Hector Thompson
    Both Viruets

You may look at their records and say so what but Roberto's dominance prevented many from really ever going on to accomplish anything else at the weight. You only need to see these guys on film (not just against Duran) to appreciate they were quality fighters.

Of course Leonard is his crowning achievement..holding a win over the bigger fighter I rank top15 alltime pushes him way up in a p4p sense.

Add to that his wins over Cuevas, Palomino, Moore, Barkley (who had just beaten Hearns) and a whole host of contenders from the time, all physically bigger fighters who were certainly proven at the top level..Sure he was inconsistent at these higher weights but he was a long way from his best weight and was well into his 30's by the time of a lot of these fights.

Duran was an excellent speciman of a fighter in the top tier of alltime greats.

I do rank him over De La Hoya if thats what you wanted to know..by some margin.

DLH is an ATG as it stands, forget about who he lost to and who he got gifts from the some of the losses he has should be wins, and visa versa, but what the man has done for the sport, and guys like Mosley and Maywaether and Hopkins and Tito he has made them guys rich and famous DLH as it stands is an ATG.

Guys like Trinidad, Hopkins, Mayweather, would not be where they are today with out DLH, they all needed that fight with Oscar to get the super star status they got, I mean had none of them fought Oscar do you think they would be making the kind of money they are making now?
