In one of his standup comedy shows in southern England the past week, Ricky Hatton broke his silence about the conflict over the financial split of his May 2 battle with Filipino Manny Pacquiao. Insisting that a 50-50 deal is fair enough for him and Pacquiao, the British super-lightweight star told the Daily Telegraph that while the pound-for-pound tends to believe that he is the draw, he is the one generating the money. "Look around you. You can see how many have turned out tonight. I sold out the City of Manchester Stadium in six hours, 55,000 people. Thousands follow me to Vegas. How many people does he bring from the Philippines? Not many," Hatton said as quoted by Kevin Garside, the Chief of Sports Writers for the British broadsheet, in a story that was published last Friday. "No disrespect to Manny, he is a great fighter, and deserves his pound-for-pound accolade. But I bring as much to the table if not more than him. We agreed a 50-50 split. Its that or nothing," added Hatton, who also dabbles in comedy gigs.
i am getting a bit fed up with this **** now. pacman needs to take 50/50 or go find a mug that will take less as hatton aint no mug.
I'm starting to see the fight getting called off, for real. Or is this just normal negotiations......probably
Should be 10% only for Hatton for too much bragging. He had a dismal showing (PPV) agaisnt Malignagi in Britain ( wasn't even worth PPV in the US). What a braggart!!!...
How do you know what the PPV's were.....the only time I have seen them is when sombody quoted information from a 'Boxing Expert' on here. No source, link or name? They were put together in the phillipines if you ask me :deal
Those figures were bull****. Totaly random - between 70k and 200k buys? WTF? If they had said between 150k and 200k buys it would be worth considering. General consensus was that 1m buys is accurate. Sky know their stuff - if it was only going to register 100k buys, they would pass on the fight and let Setanta buy it.
Why can't we just have ONE Hatton/Pacquiao thread and stick to it? There is all ready about thousand threads about this proposed fight: it's getting ridiculous.
The 'Philstar' reported those buys rates http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?ArticleId=432476&publicationSubCategoryId=69
These PPV numbers are total fiction. I like the idea of the winner taking 55%. That gives incentive not to just turn up for the pay check.
