If Hatton wins vs Pac, will you rank him ahead of Calzaghe in P4P rank?

Me neither, because Hatton is naturally bigger than Pac and JMM. I think their angle is more any way possible to rank Old Shoddy Res Calzaghe as the numero uno.

I can see why they say it though......

I suppose it is similar to Boxrec in a way, if you beat someone you must automatically be better than them. Ignoring all variables that could apply - such as judging, refereeing, styles etc.

Few people would say that Hector Camacho was better than Sugar Ray Leonard, for instance.

RedRooster over on the Classic forum might give you an argument about that, he think Terry Norris is a better fighter than Leonard because Norris won when they fought.

I suppose Nottingham Forest are better than Man City as well, then!

Calzaghe already is No 2# in the P4P,Marquez loses against Diaz,Hatton beats Pac-Man then Hatton jumps Marquez IMO.
Hatton and Pacman will weigh the same in the ring anyhow if the Del a Hoya fights anything to go by

    Calzaghe 1
    Pac-Man 2
    Hatton 3
    JMM 4
    Hopkins 5

pac may have started off at much lower weights but he couldn't fight at those weights now, so that isn't his natural weight anymore, and people are saying pac carried his speed and power up to 147, and he's physically very similar size to hatton. so if hatton does win, size can't be used as much of an excuse when it comes to assessing p4p lists after the fight.

I believe JMM will beat Diaz. Hatton and Pac may weigh a similar figure on the night, but that is Hatton's natural weight, it is his natural division. Pac is a former flyweight world champion. That is an incredible feat. It's like Hatton fighting at light-heavyweight!

What if Marquez beats Diaz - something I expect.....

Unless Pac beats Hatton, his resume above 130 is far better than Pac (Casa & J. Diaz >> D. Diaz & DLH).

If Marquez beats Diaz, he should stay at 2 (but closes the gap), if Hatton wins, JMM should move up to #1.

To answer your Q regarding weight, Hatton will be 152, Pac 149ish.

Hatton beating Pac will be a SENSATIONAL win, but the fact remains that Pac is nothing like a natural lww. Although the win will mean a helluva lot, it simply can't mean as much as beating a world p4p#1 who was the same size as him would've done. That's just logic, it can be applied to any fight and any fighters. If Pac destroyed Israel Vasquez next year at superfeather, it would be a great win, but it wouldn't mean as much as him beating someone closer to him in size like Nate Campbell.

I admit Pac-Mans a great fighter but he walks around a lot heavier than JWW as he's said before .
He was last Flyweight ten years ago 8 stone now he's fighting at ten stone against Hatton, excellent achievment but there's nothing unatural for someone to bulk out and put two stone on in ten years!
    Ten years ago i was about 8 1/2 now i'm 10 there's nothing un-natural about it....

You're not a boxer though. OK, if it is so unremarkable, name me one single other flyweight world champion who has competed at light-welterweight or welterweight?? Or even lightweight??? It is very special and very unusual. Possibly even unique.

I think it has a fair bit to do with naturally filling out with age - that isn't to take away from his achievements though.....

British kids tend to find their size around school leaving age, others take longer.

It is an amazing achievement but if he fights a JWW that is the division he is judged on not the fact he used to be flyweight champten years ago.
He weighs in at JWW and gets beat a JWW there's no weight excuses.
If David Haye gets beat at Heavy, then he gets beat.He may not be used to the size of punches but with his extra poundage he should be delivering some heavy ones of his own.
    Same with Pac-Man - Hatton

Basing decisions on who has a zero and who doesn't is the hallmark of the casual, part-time, knowledge-less, big fight only, three-fights-a-year fighter fan.
