Presumably you would say Cotto is not a success at welterweight, he lost to someone who was nowhere near the 'best in the world'....

 

Pacquiao = challenger, Hatton = champion. Simple really. Pac =- draw Hatton = draw. Whilst all those wins from flyweight to lightweight are great on his resume, they don't mean he brings any more money to a junior welterweight title challenge. I'm not saying his place is below Hatton, but 50-50 is fair specially when it is what was agreed in the first place.

This may come as a tremendous shock to you but the USA is not the whole world! "The USA dictates how much a fight generates by PPV", what exactly is this supposed to mean? What dictates how much a fight generates is how many it sells in each country multiplied by the price in that country.

If you seriously want to bet that Hatton-Malignaggi did not do more than 50,000 in the UK I would happily stake a three figure sum on it. The figure I heard mentioned in the immediate aftermath was 850k. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the figures have been released for definite. But it's hardly unrealistic. The Mayweather fight did 1.4m and you are sorely mistaken if you think anyone outside a few thousand hardcore fans in the UK knew who the fcuk Mayweather was!

Again, I am sure hatton's other fights haven't been PPV in the States, but the whole frigging world does not revolve around one country.

I would like to know on what grounds it is "laughable" that Hatton could fill Wembley stadium with 100,000 for the right fight? Considering that he sold 55,000 at the City of Manchester stadium inside a few hours for a fight with Lazcano, a good top 10 but not elite opponent, I don't see that as especially unrealistic.

No, I would say Cotto was completely successful at welter, as he has comprehensively beaten other top welters. If Hatton moved up to welter and had Cotto's record at that weight then he would be a success.

This fight will happen as Pac will not generate nowhere near the amount of $$$$ with anyone else (albeit Mayweather) and the same can be vice-versa.

 

He has always done this actually, before people were even majorly talking about Pacquiao. I think its more to do with Hatton being a good scalp for Mayweather, and he is desperate to boost him. Pretty transparent.

Fitz actually suprisngly knows his **** as far as picking fights, however.

 

TBF, in the post you quoted he's not talking up Hatton's ability as a fighter, more his ability to pull in the crowds, which should not affect how people view Mayweather.

Marquez is a fighter that deserves a huge payday compared to a lot of guys today. He seems to draw the short end of the straw due to reasons outside boxing ability.
