If Hatton wins vs Pac, will you rank him ahead of Calzaghe in P4P rank?

I dont think Hatton being underdog matters in the slightest. Its all about the performance and the result.
If Hatton beats Pac, he deserves to be above Pac in the P4P rankings if Pac continues to fight at 140 or above. 1, 2, 3 or 4 but he has to be above Pac.
If Pac moves back down in wieght saying its to high a wieght for him then that would be fair enough. There would be a argument for Pac to keep P4P 1 status.
If JMM and Hatton win i would have
    P4P
    1 JMM
    2 JC
    3 Hatton
    4 BHop
    5 Pac

This is me assuming that Pac can no longer make it down to lightwieght. He therefor now has to be judged as a natural lightwelter.
I think the fight is a 50/50, im sitting perched on my fence!

Talk of 'natural weight' is by and large bollocks.

A fighter's natural weight changes throughout his career and is best defined as the lowest weightclass that a fighter can weigh in at and still be effective in the ring. According to Roach that is currently 140 for Pacquiao, so that's his natural weight right now. In dimensions he is very similar to Hatton and both of their natural fighting weight is now 140lbs. In physical terms it's a completely even match up. We're not talking Hopkins v De La Hoya here.

The only reason that Pacquiao has moved through so many weights and Hatton has remained at LWW throughout his career is that the build of their bodies is completely different. At this point that is irrelevant. What weights they fought at 10 years ago is irrelevant.

Yes, it is. Hatton is a naturally bigger man.

If Paul Williams fought Kelly Pavlik, they would be similar sizes via the measuring tape. Same when Tito Trinidad fought Bernard Hopkins. Same when James Toney fought Sam Peter. But that doesn't mean they are naturally the same size.

Cobbler don't get me wrong, because you have joined halfway in and I am having to educate a novice like guru whateverhisnameis you may think I am trying to say that Hatton beating Pacquiao wouldn't be a sensational win and wouldn't be one of the wins of the decade - but I am NOT saying that. I'm saying it would be.

However what I am saying is that it is not enough in my eyes to make Hatton p4p#1 ahead of JM Marquez, if Marquez beats Diaz. Beating a naturally smaller man can be an amazing victory but it isn't as good as beating someone your own size or someone bigger. Simple logic.

You said Hatton wasn't comfortable at 147 because he was small for ww, and that is implying that his poorer performance was due to size, thereby excusing his performances there.

However, you refuse to make the same concession for Pac fighting at lww, despite Hatton spending his career only 7lbs light of 147, while Pac has spent the majority of his career 10-18lbs below 140 at 122-130.

Hatton is uindersized body wise for a lww in reality if he wasn't a fat git half the time he should have been able to make the weight class below or maybe even 130

Pac is making 140 now because he has bulked up to go for the biggest fights available, he is not and never will be a natural lightwelterweight, because he is 30 years old now and has fought the majority of his career at 122-130lbs. What part of this is it that's giving you trouble??

Yawn. I can't believe I've wasted 10 minutes of my life trying to help someone who has blabbed on about the importance of height until he received some stats and examples on how he was wrong, and then degenerated into clinging to a propaganda quote from a publicity-hungry trainer. Waste of time.

thats bollox!its an impressive feat no doubt, but he started as a 16 yr old and his natural weight now is probably 135, roach would argue 140!so he is fighting 1 division above his natural weight!

nothing like hatton going to light heavyweight, ridiculous comment....

    Hmmm.

Pacquiao started his career at 106lbs and he won his first world title at 112lbs.

He is now fighting at 140-147lbs.

    That's a difference of 30-40lbs.

Hatton had his first pro fight at 140lbs. He moved up to 147lbs. He moved back to 140lbs.

    Light-heavyweight is 175lbs.

    That's a difference of 30-35lbs.
