If Hatton wins vs Pac, will you rank him ahead of Calzaghe in P4P rank?

    Depends what Calzaghe does.

The fight is for May, yes?. If Calzaghe has retired or done **** all or fought anyone outside of Dawson,Hopkins,Kessler or Taylor before then, Hatton goes above him.

If he fights one of those and wins he stays ahead of Ricky, no matter what Hatton does.

pacman is a special fighter, who can move up the weights and still be strong, fast, tough and powerful like very very few boxers are capable of. he may have won his first title at 112 but could he get down to that weight now? no, because he's matured into the higher weights as he's got older. He was very fast and strong at 147 vs Oscar, and though you couldn't call him a natural 147lber, he must be naturally around 135/140 now. Didn't Roach say Pac wouldn't fight below 140 again. That must be for a reason

Read back over our debate. I have continually slaughtered you, you have offered nothing but biased nonsense, you have backed up nothing you have said with any knowledge at all, and came across like an infant using some Freddie Roach propaganda quote as fact. This is becoming less and less engaging. Yawn.

It depends on how you view 'natural' I suppose. Many fighters move up and fight at weights for bigger fights, bigger money, or simply to win titles at more weight divisions. Roy Jones Jr was a great lightheavyweight, but I don't think he was a natural lhw. Shane Mosley was a great welterweight, but I don't think he was a natural ww. These guys moved up and did their best at weights higher than they should have done for certain reasons. It doesn't mean they were naturals there though. Big natural fighters at that weight would have been very tough for them to overcome. Guys like Michael Spinks and Felix Trinidad would have been very difficult for two arguably more talented fighters like Jones Jr and Mosley at those weights because they were naturals there and RJJ and SSM were not. Pacquiao may be comfortably making the weight at lww, but someone who is only doing so at aged 30 and having spent the bulk of his world title career at 122-130 has bulked up to that size for certain reasons. Put him in with someone who is big naturally at lww like Oscar was, and you would see the difference in size.

Yawn. I don't believe Calzaghe beat Hopkins, plus Hopkins's recent wins (Pavlik, Tarver, Wright) and clearly better than Calzaghe's (Jones, Kessler, Manfredo). I don't think Hatton goes above Pac or Marquez or Cal or Hopkins if he beats Pac because IMO Hatton is not an elite fighter yet, and one win over a naturally smaller man will not change that. If Hatton goes on to unify his own division, then maybe he will be elite, but as of now I don't think he is. Height doesn't really make any difference at all.

Yawn. Why would I care if anyone agrees with me on this thread at this moment in time or not? I am a poster known for having my own opinions and presenting my reasons for them at all times, public approval has never been something I have chased, I am secure enough in my own reasoning and opinions not to care. You on the other hand are gaining a reputation as a moron whose chief achievement on this forum is calling someone from Scotland a "HOMO HAGGIS".

If Ricky Hatton beats Pac, I would move him up to #5 in the p4p rankings, I don't believe one win justifies placing him among the elite top four boxers in the world, which are Pac, Marquez, Hopkins and Calzaghe.

My reason is that Pacquiao is not a natural lww. Less than a year ago he was fighting at superfeatherweight - this is a fact which cannot be ignored. He has bulked up on muscle purely to get bigger fights, so he is making the weight OK but this in no way means he is a natural at the weight. He has only fought at 135 or higher twice, only fought at 140 or higher once.

I still think it would be an AMAZING win for Ricky and one of the best of the decade, and if he went on to unify his division then he would've proved elite.

Had Hatton beaten Mayweather at 147, he would have had a more legitimate case for taking the p4p#1 ranking then because Mayweather had been fighting at lww and ww for years and was more accustomed/comfortable/proven at those weights.

I have explained my position clearly, if anyone disagrees then fair enough. But anyone who joins a boxing forum to chuck around insults like "HOMO HAGGIS" and reduce any boxing discussion to comparing heights is a ****wit. :hi:

Joe Calzaghe was the best supermiddle in the world 1997-2006, but he didn't prove it and gain p4p respect till he unified v Lacy and Kessler.

Bernard Hopkins was the best middle in the world 1995-2001, but he didn't prove it and gain p4p respect till he unified v Holmes and Trinidad.

Hatton is the best lww but he must prove it before he can be considered an elite fighter.

I am adding something to this thread though, I am proposing, explaining, arguing, evaluating. You are kicking about national stereotypes and homophobic insults. You're the very definition of the shite noobs that depress us all.

Why didn't Hatton prove it when he beat Tszyu?

Hatton is currently #10 p4p. To make him #1 after the Pac fight would be jumping him 9 places on the strength of one win over a naturally smaller fighter. I don't believe that would be justified. :good
