Frazier like Cooney had a freakish left hook, both were converted lefty's ...Frazier was more durable all around but both men had right hands that were nothing to right home about....Fraziers hook power was up there with the hook's of Dempsey,Marciano,Louis and Tyson and Foreman but the the way the used it like a wrecking crane had the visual impact.....Frazier used it to the body and head and it was a good as anyones but Frazier also had a big heart ,stamina and was conditioned up into ALI 1...then his conditioning dwindled....Power alone Frazier hook was as good as anyone's...his right hand was ordinary
Buddy Baer was bigger than Lewis and in prety good shape to boot. Primo Carnera was ripped at 260 lbs.
I don't doubt for a second that Louis could KO Lewis. The opposite of course also being true. When it comes to two fisted power I'm seriously leaning towards post-prison Tyson as the nr. 1 guy, by the way.
Carnera was a total oaf, who could barely walk in a straight line - a terrible fighter. Buddy Baer - see link (I don't think he compares to Lennox) http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/Buddy_Baer
This is more or less how I see it. I doubt that Frazier threw anything as powerful as the uppercut Foreman lifted him from the canvas with, but otherwise it all seems pretty reasonable.
Please tell me you are joking...... I love Marciano and Louis but they are too small for Lennox, it would be murder.
No, I'm not. I don't necissarily think that Marciano or Louis would KO Lewis, but they certainly could. Lesser men did. Of course, Lewis could KO them as well, perhaps had a better chance of doing so than the other way around. Hard to say. I'd favour him against Marciano, but against Louis... That's a separate thread.
True. But they didn't have Louis acuracy, timing and killer instinct. Nor did they have Marciano's relentless tenacity and work rate. I know you're all about power (and perhaps should see someone about it), but the only guy who KO'd Foreman was far from the most powerful puncher Foreman met. Louis wasn't probably even the most powerful puncher of his own era, but he was the undisputed king when it came to KO's. Power is all fine and dandy, but it's not the end all and the be all.
I am all about power when it comes to discussing whether one person could ko another. Foreman got koed???....... who by????? Please tell me
While these guys were not as good as Lewis they were as big and durable and posed many of the same problems. They are suficient to show that Louis could take Lewis apart on paper.
That is not true. A chap like Buddy Baer would not break into the top 50 heavyweights in Britain today let alone challange for a world title.
