The Kessler-Larsen fight makes sense on several levels. Kessler wants out of his contract with Palle but is more or less stuck with Palle for the next three fights. Kessler doesn't want to fight Larsen because a victory does nothing for his carreer. Palle want's the Kessler-Larsen fight because he thinks that Kessler in a sense owe Larsen for taking what was Larsens shot at a title when Larsen fell ill. At the same time Palle can make good money on this fight in DK. More importantly (for Palle), Palle can control nearly everything surrounding the fight. So, Palle's lawyer calls Kesslers lawyer and offer Kessler a fight with Larsen, a fight that Palle knows Kessler has no interest in. In return Palle lets Kessler get off the contractal hook. All in all this is a good thing for all parts. Larsen and Palle gets the money they are after and Kessler is a free man. Only bad thing is that Kessler looses another 6 month of his carreer, however, staying with Palle he might loose even more.

...and for the outcome of the fight I feel confident Larsen will be KOed within 5-6 rounds. Larsen is just too slow and makes too many defensive mistakes. Larsen will be caught badly and he actually deserves it because he keeps saying "..the danish spactators deserves this fight between me and Kessler...". Please someone ask Larsen to stop talking about what the fans deserve.

    Well, put, but..
-Matters are pretty complicated as Kessler is on vacation now, and only has contact with Palle through their respective lawyers...

If Kessler has to choose between
A: a badly paid fight with Johnson, and then 2 more fights arranged by Palle
    and
B: a extremely well-paid fight with Larsen, and then being released from the next 2 fights with Palle (after compensating Palle economically, of course..)

-Well, the choice isn't that easy.
If the Johnson fight goes well, Palle could easily arrange 2 big fights for Kessler in the US, but if Kessler is released from Palle, his new promoter (GBP is being rumoured to have contacted Kessler already) could make the same big fights for him....

Kessler better make this fight happen as soon as possible, take this bum out, leave Palle and move on to bigger and better things.

Larsen, then Perdomo. Time for one more fight in 2009. You should hope for 2010.

No. Kessler just got rid of his mandatory (Haussler). Larsen would be an optional. Anyway Larsen is number 6.

In one way its very unlucky for Kessler, and extremely disapointing for fans of boxing that the prime years of a very good looking fighter are being wasted away.

On the other hand, he shouldn't have signed such a deal with Palle knowing what he's like. He should have known the bitter old man better than anyone.

It seems Palle thinks Kessler has taken his cake (the money), and now he's got to eat it by doing what he wants. It's a shame, because Kessler deserves big fights and big money, like everybody else.

Well, the one good thing happening now is that I think we are seeing Kessler had different ideas than Palle. I'm liking Mikkel better. I'm willing to cut him some slack till this settles out.

But look, how much time is this going to waste?

Mikkel is in his fighting prime now. He has chronic back issues, and they ain't getting better with age. He gets aches and pains getting through training.

Why is it that Mandatories has to be so shitty? It should have been Larsen instead of Haussler. Does it mean the Kessler can not fight Taylor because he has to fight Perdomo. Go home WBA.

Anyway maybe GBP or other knows their way arround this.

Well I should think Hopkins will be finished by the time Kessler makes his big stateside move, Calzaghe will be retired, Johnson is not going to be offering anymore money - so that fight is a no, no (otherwise why not take the fight now), and Dawson will not be going below 175 - he may even move to Cruiser. That's Hopkins, Calzaghe, Glen Johnson, and Chad Dawson all out the picture of ever fighting Kessler (admittedly Calzaghe never looked like rematching him). Real quality opponents don't come along that often.

What's with this deal business? Why would Palle bin a 3 fight contract (possible world money level fights) just to get Kessler to make a domestic fight in mighty money spinning Denmark?

if kessler can genuinely fight larsen, which isn't an 'easy' fight and get out of team palle, then i hope he does it.

but i've seen nothing about this on danish TV
