Gerry Penalosa will fight Juan Manuel Lopez in Puerto Rico on April 25th for the WBO super batamweight title, according to Fight____. Looks like all the details have been finalized. This year looks like another great year for boxing fans!:bbb:happy

This should be interesting. Penalosa has the defence, speed and boxing skill to netralize some of Lopez's best work, and take advantage of his lack of footwork. This is an opponent that is not completely made for him, this time.

Maybe Lopez's strength and power will be too much in the end.

Finally, he is facing a top ten fighter. He was slacking off a bit. May be because a lot of fighters don't want to fight him. What he did to Ponce de Leon was bad ass, knocking him out in the 1st round. I believe Penalosa won his fight with Ponce de Leon.

Never saw it but I just checked boxrec and its an UD all 3 judges with near shutout decisions for Ponce de Leon. Something dodgy or was it a joke ?

Something fishy, yes. I believe Penalosa landed the harder more effective shots. I don't think Ponce de Leon did enough to win. Probably someone paid off the judges. The thing that is funny is that Chuck Giampa and Dave Moretti are pretty good judges. They did all the championship fights for a long time. That judge Nelson Vazquez, I never heard of him.

I re-scored Penalosa vs Ponce last night, and I had a draw.

Juanma will beat him. Then I get to hear the new excuses about how Gerry was old by the time Lopez beat him. If you pick Gerry to win this one, then dont say crap when he loses. Stick to your guns.

I'd be shocked if Juanma did not win this comfortably. Though they are different styles, naturally, one ought to recall how easily Jhonny Gonzalez was dispatching Penalosa until the Filipino landed an out of nowhere body shot that ended the affair.
