According to Danish media (www.sporten.dk) Larsens promoter Sauerland has sent an offer of ~€1 million to Kessler to meet Larsen in a match in Denmark.

It isn't "easy" in terms of physical efforts but a hell of a lot needs to go wrong for Kessler to loose this one. Larsen is not exactly a point-scoring-machine, never has been. Kessler will have next to no problems matching Larsen´s punch output. Also, Larsen doesn't have the bang he used to. So Larsen does IMHO not even have a punchers chance: Game over. Next?

The reported offer from Sauerland is already more than twice as much as the reported offer to fight Johnson in the US.

And that's presumably just an opening salvo.

Does that give you a clue?

Why wouldn't Palle cash in for one fight when he would need Kessler to be successful and hope that the right fights came his way to actually make more in the three fights?

I have a gut feeling that there is more to this domestic fight than meets the eye. Recall that Palle faught a loooong (lasting 4 years I think) legal battle with Mads Larsen. Palle lost in court if I recall correctly. Having Kessler batter and destroy Larsen beyond recognition would be a kind of "revenge" for Mr. Palle. It's like Palle sending the message "You can beat me in court but eventually I'll catch up with you and put you flat on your ass". Funny enough, Kessler doesn't seem to get an awful lot out of it boxing wise, however, given that Mikkel at this point in time really wants to get rid of Palle, Mikkel obviously takes the fight, hoping for bigger and better things to come in the States probably.

Aside from Haussler and Ottke, what Larsen fights are best to check out/easiest to find?

Gotta figure he'll fight twice. Let's wait until the opponent for the latter half of 09 is announced before making that judgment. A lot can happen in a few months.

I agree! It's a shame for the fans but no reasons to feel sorry for Kessler. When he signed with Palle he new what was in store for him. Palle is a stingy old ******* that cares far more about his business than boxing as a sport. There is no excuse for wasting a year of a prime fighters short life. A good promotor keeps a balance between business and sport. Palle never did in my eyes. I know I'm blasting Palle here. It's just very hard to imagine that Kessler himself caused this lame year.

F****** screwed up WBA rankings and meaningless mandatories....

-But then again.... Palle and Kessler shouldn't be too surprised....

If you buy a cheap house in a crappy neighbourhood, you're stuck with the crappy neighbours, right ???? :D:D:D

We heard excuses galore last year, and endured them. We are getting more excuses this year. I wonder if this time next year people will still be making excuses for Kessler's lack of quality competition. People like Hopkins will not be here next year - an opportunity to fight an elite missed forever - sad.

That offer seems almost comically low.

I doubt you are wrong and that's very depressing:-( A lot of great fighters and fights are being missed because of the all these stupid sanctioning bodies and management. Clottey can't get a good fight, Taylor is spinning his wheels, the list goes on

Exactly! And that is why some drastic changes are needed in Kesslers management in order to land big fights. He needs to make a name for himself out of the ring too. I have no doubt that that'll help him a great deal. There is no way in the World Team Palle can do that because they basically don't know how. It is also why I want Mikkel to change to a US based promotor.
