I'm pretty sure you once said Taylor was going "nowhere" at 168. I'm not going to waste my time trying to find something that may not exist. But, if you did, what is your current assessment and what has changed other than JC?

I don't agree its neccessarily an easy gimme fight for Taylor, however every fighters ambition should be to fight the best opponents, and that means unifying the division. If Taylor wants to get serious and do that, there ain't many avenues for him to go down right now.

If he wants a real gimme and some easy cash he can fight Allan Green or Edison Miranda.

I don't think he is going anywhere fast if he fights the best opponents. I think Bute would beat him (actually this would be extremely close I reckon), Kessler certainly would, and Andrade would give him HELL for styles reasons.

I've come round to the idea of him beating Froch mainly due to my disapointment in Froch's performance. It sort of got lost within it being a great fight, but Froch fought poorly to be honest.

You can talk about viewership all you want, but from the sounds of it, ITV doesn't have the budget for this fight that it would need to get off the ground.

I'm not clear on what kind of contract Froch has with ITV, but maybe he should've held out for Setanta.

I think there is a difference between a "gimme" and a "relatively easy win."
Perhaps "very winnable" would be a better choice of words.

This works both ways - if Froch wants to fight the best in the division, he has Taylor as his primary option right now. If things don't work out with JT, Froch is probably looking at a defense against Ward or Dirrell. Yes, both are American, which is a plus for getting his name out there, but neither is nearly as well-known as Taylor and a victory over either (should he be fortunate enough to get one) would only result in people saying they were unproven, as they haven't really beaten anyone in the top 10 themselves.

So those of you putting the onus to make this fight solely on Taylor need to wake up and look at the fact that Froch's alternatives aren't all that great either.

It a bit more complex than that... If thats the case then Darchinyan to fly over and fight Arce for a million... Do you think that will happen?

That's nothing to do with Taylor. If the fight is in the UK then it's pretty likely Taylor's fee is set and the budget is Mick Hennessy's problem. What does Taylor care where the money is coming from?

If what you say is correct, then Dibella should be able to win a pursebid fairly easily and pay Froch a lot less than one million. Fight on.

Of course Taylor is the most attractive opponent for Froch, and that is the fight he wants.

It might not solely be on Taylor, but it mostly is. Froch has shown his hand here, so the ball is in Taylor's court. Froch isn't going to completely short change himself, why should he?

If Froch has to defend his belt, he will do that, at least he's got a belt to defend. He can only enhance his reputations by defending a legit belt - especially against the fighters you mention that interest boxing fans as prospects. I think that will look better for Froch than fighting meaningless fights in the context of the division.

Ill favor Taylor over any fighter at 168...other than Kessler all those 168 champs from Europe are overrated..at 160 I'd favor Taylor over AA and Sturm too!

Yes I see what you are saying. I guess my point is that he is a weak champion with no significant wins and thus offers limited appeal to the viewing public. Therefore he should be careful about thinking that he is a bigger shot than what he is. He might think that he has Taylor over a barrel but in boxing there is always another way. If Taylor is his mandatory and it goes to purse bids because they can't agree on a split then what is the constituted split for champion and challenger, 60/40? That would probably be a better business decision for Taylor's promoter even though everyone no doubt gets less.

Well, it was 'fan friendly' in many respects, but this was the first fight I had seen for either and not what I was expecting to be sure. It was one thing to see Pascal through a straight arm round house club once. You expect people to react some times. But when it was clear it was a normal 'punch' for him I scratched my head some. Plus I don't know if he closed his glove. If he wants to slap, he should watch..... OK. Won't go there. Ever read Jack Dempsey's book? He talked about getting beat by a "slapper" once.

P2K has just confirmed in another thread that Taylor is in talks with Miranda.
