I don't think anybody is calling him an ATG, or anything close to it! But he deserves to be a hall of famer nonetheless. If you don't know the details of his career (linear champ in two divisions, about 10 world champs and numerous contenders beaten) then go and do some research, I am not going to fan the flames of another trolling anti-Calzaghe thread by explaining it to you.
It's sort of like being in some band that few really like or respect (maybe like George Thoroughgood or John Mellancamp or some other weak ass crap) that stays around forever and after twenty years or so receives begrudging respect more due to their longevity than anything else. That's Joe. He wasn't gifted like Zeppelin, Cream, Purple, Sabbath, Priest, or Maiden (or RJJ, Hopkins, Toney, Nunn, McCallum, McClellan, Benn, Eubank, etc., etc., etc.) he was some other **** that existed long enough to build a catalogue that some fans really like and enjoy but if you could put him on stage with the greats in their prime all you would notice was how odd it was that this group was even on the bill. Most likely, you'd go for a bathroom break, beer or drug run, and miss their set or performance altogether.
