Why does Cotto want to go thru the same beating again?

I always find it funny when people make excuses for Cotto losing by saying he simply ran out of gas like Margarito didn't almost finish him in the 7th, hurt him badly in the 10th and wiped him out in the 11th. Every time Margo would land a decent flush shot you could tell by Cotto's facial expression that it really stung and he wanted it to be over with. It's also clear that all the brutal bodywork in the early rounds laid out the foundation for Cotto's fatigue and eventual defeat.

I doubt Cotto really wants the rematch but it's expected of him because of his culture so that is what he does. Arum also wants to cash in again because of the great PPV numbers in the first fight. If I was Cotto I would fight other top welters instead of the rematch to avoid getting KTFO.

Fatdrunkenslob.....I thought I was making some good points until you had
to come along. Your post is Cotto's point when he gave Margie props that night....that he was the better man that night.

He wouldn't want a rematch if Tony had taken his soul.
Maybe Cotto just won't accept defeat and honestly think he can beat Margarito. Whats wrong with that? I hope you're not one of those who ***** figthers who dont try to avenge defeat....

I did'nt hear any complain when CIntron fought Margo again...

    Agreed.
There is also a myth that Cotto, though fighting well, was schooling Margo for the first half of the fight.BS.He was taking a lot of damaging punishment from Margo,as good as he looked and fought.

Cotto apparently said last week that he will not change his style and clinch against Margarito in a rematch.

IF Cotto stands true to this and refuses to hold for some dumb principle about aesthetics, he will indeed go through the same beating late in the fight.

IF he smartens up, watches some Bernard Hopkins videos, and realizes that strategic holding could win him the fight, then he does not necessarily receive the same beating.

Cotto was fighting so well in the first half of that fight that he could conceivably beat Margarito, but it would involve a far smarter defensive strategy. Limply covering your face and eating uppercuts and taking hundreds of punches on your head, face, shoulders, arms, sides that you do NOT need to take did not work the first time and it will not work the second time either.

If Miguel boxes and moves, but then when Margo gets up close, holds, infights, spins, leads the fight across the ring instead of round and round, mixes up his directions, then and only then will he have a good chance of a points win and a fantastic victory.

I think he CAN do it, but I don't think he will after reading his comments. Silly boy. He should learn that REALISM and not IDEALISM can resurrect his career.

What weight did you fight at and what was your record?
When were you last in a situation such as you just described and prevailed....
where you can make a presumptious statement like that....

You sound like an armchair quarterback playing boxing on video games.

Detroit.....said that he would NEVER....NEVER sit down in the corner.

How can you speak for Detroit?

Possibly I misquoted him for you.....if I did then I apologize to Detroit.

No its alright. I thought he mean he would never fight Margarito again. It is not clear..maybe i'm wrong.

Of course, if he is saying he would have never quit...then he's a...moron.

I don't understand why people are writing off Cotto for a second bout against Marge.

Marge has GREAT stamina and a hell of a chin. But in my opinion, with a better game plan, Cotto can beat Marge.
