Boxing is business! Remember Floyd Mayweather Jr has retired so he can't wait for him...he might not comeback. Here's a question, you work for Manny Pacquiao and you get offered the most money you ever had in his career to fight Ricky Hatton. What do you do (A) Take the fight for 13 million or (B) Fight Valero/Soto for 10 million less?

If this is how it went down, I totally agree. Maybe, it is not Pac with the greed and it is Arum. I just wanted to see the fight. I understand all arguments with all the posters here, but damn, Pac would have made a killing with the original deal and he can only go up if he wins. Meaning money and adding more fans.

Pacquiao already destroyed Oscar de la Hoya. Completely destroyed. Floyd had a much harder time against Oscar than he did against Hatton.

    So you tell me.

By another poster's astonishing logic in this thread, your common-sense point is apparently false. Yes, I find it as astonishing as you, that it could be suggested that earning a career high payday and increased drawing power and exposure could amount to a "no-win situation". Comical.

Don't shift the focus. This isn't about comparing Pacquiao and Floyd in their respective fights with Oscar.

This is about you owning up to what you've said. Try again. You can start by answering my question. Thanks.

Well, was it to much to ask for a source considering the number of threads and posts? Not just 'I heard'? I watched the report. Do you have a translation? Obviously if the little bit of English is right, he planned on missing the deadline. If he was serious do you think they would have canceled? Hatton's father hasn't ruled this dead yet. Watch the video again.

This is interesting though. Last I read Arum couldn't be reached because he was on a plane to California. Are WE being played?

    Oscar was Light-Middleweight for Mayweather.

Oscar aka weight-drained vombie was Welterweight for Pacquiao...that's the difference.

Don't even respond to that portion of his post, it was his attempt at ducking my question. Also, your well-made point won't get through to him, just give him something else to argue about rather than owning up to the absurd claim I'm calling him on.

It all comes down to this:

Pacquiao wants more of the UK money than Hatton. This clearly isn't right. Some might say that those fans in the UK who buy it are watching for Pac as well, since Malignaggi didn't sell that well. But Pac vs DLH sold a lot less in the UK. If Hatton fights a top ten p4p fighter his sales will be through the roof - it doesn't matter if it's not Pac - Hatton vs Marquez would generate the same amount of buys. Many people in the UK don't know who Pac or JMM are, but if they know their both in the top 5 fighters in the world they will pay.

I think pacquiao would not fight valero or soto. He would rather retire than fight for much less. He's been saying that this is his last year in boxing and will run for congress next year. He doesn't care about money nowadays, as after dela hoya he's been a much bigger figure in the philippines, and his product endorsements alone are more than enough to feed his family in a lifetime.

The team pacquiao would prefer to fight floyd to further his legacy. Just how roach put it during his interviews before that they would prefer to fight floyd as ricky has been KTFO by mayweather. But because mayweather has not given any signs of coming back, that's why the alternative option is to fight ricky for money, but legacy-wise it would not do much for pacquiao. As most people in boxing other than the british fans has been saying that manny would easily win this fight if it happens.

So the UK market isn't buying for Pac - they buy for Hatton vs Big Name.

This doesn't make sense.. If Manny and Hatton is off becuse of the split do you think DLH will take 50/50? I don't think so... Pacman - Hatton will be on..this is just hype...
