As soon as they start using the term "martial arts" you know it is a load of crap. If indeed bones heal stronger, then why do top boxers like Floyd Mayweather and Joe Calzaghe get recurring bone fractures? Probably because they aren't phony martial artists hitting concrete blocks that are really made out of spaghetti. If indeed you ever find somebody who can defy the laws of physics send him over to see James Randy. He will present a $1,000,000 to anybody who can perform a miraculous stunt. So far he hasn't fattened the wallet of any so called martial artist.
join a gym or a martial arts club, Karate, ITF Taekwondo, Muay Thai are decent replacements for Boxing. they all encourage the one shot. why would breaking your hands make them stronger:huh all you will have is heavy bone scarrage...that is not stronger thats damaging. and if you recieve a hairline fracture, that hand might be unusable...check paulie malignaggi. and why would hardening knuckles make you heavier handed? a wooden bat or a steel bat are gonna knockheads what ever happends. the reason some martial art peeps hit walls and slap trees is to deaden the nerves so you can put your full confidence into the strike. and in that they arnt hitting them to break your bones but to train them up...there is a program called mind body and kick ass moves which was talkign about this very subject. also if you have a broken hand you'll know that it will take some time to trust it to it's full potential again. i'm left handed and i broke it when i was sparring, i had to turn orthodox becuase of it. even now 2 years later i cant put the full brunt on in it just in case it rebreaks... power = technique, speed, timing
i strengthen my handds so im less likely o damage them i get a thing of wet sand and punch it for a while then i spread my fingers and dip them in to the wet sand and pull them out, this strenghtens your fingers. i also sit watching TV with a weight in my hand and lift it with my wrist, to strengthen my wrists.
can i just say that i am from a taekwondo background and i was your steotypical skinny, 16 year old, bruce lee wannabe. looking and buying martial art mags whenever i could. now i have seen guys break concrete blocks easy in taekwondo exibitions...not becuase there is KI flowing thru your body and snapping the block but becuase they know how to hit and break the item. breeze blocks have structurial weakpoints, if you hit dead center with enough initial speed and force. it will break. there is no magic tricks it's all technique...if a boxer trained in it he would be just as succesful. also concrete is very brittle. hard but brittle. once you have snapped technque down on the strike. it will fall apart...weakest chain as you will. wood is also a good item to break as once you have gone so far it shatters. but along with this you get alot of ego's who think they know whats up and training methods are so varied between the disciplines that you will never get a concicive answer. which is why this training method of hitting walls is true in a sense. as it is a kun fu tradition. but peopel forget that these kids start at abotu 5 years old hitting hot sand and knuckle presses. a part timer who pays his monthly subscription gets told if you hit walls it will harden your knuckles....yes it kinda would but that is to no advantage. the method is to have confidnce when you strike it's not about power in general. This content is protected RANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No, you guys really do suck, lol. He asked, I answered. Ive heard of some crazy monks do the wall thing and seen it. The bag of sand thing I've seen those professional 'breakers' do it. Theyre not common in boxing but on the flipside of the world I'm sure youd see it alot more. Is this how you got 18,000 posts?
So you're encouraging a young guy who isn't even a boxer, and doesn't belong to a gym to break his hands to make them stronger because you've 'heard of some crazy monks' who do it. Great. :thumbsup
Umm did I say hit it hard? I said build up to it hitting it harder, meaning start light. And btw I did say I wouldnt recommend the paper + wall thing. And I wasnt aware of the fact he wasnt a boxer or belonged to a gym. ANYWAYS dont you have better things to do then to rack up 18,000 posts critisizing other peoples posts? Seriously, thats all I see you post is either A) something that doesnt help or answer the question at all and B) critisizing somebody elses post that IS answering the question. Could you take what I said in any worse a way? I didnt say breaking the hands makes them heal stronger that was somebody else, and I know it doesnt work like that, in fact it works the opposite way. Anyhow Im not about to get into an E-battle with some "keyboard warrior" because of your constant stream of condescending remarks streaming from your fingertips. I was just telling him a few options he has, whether YOU like the suggestion or not has ZERO consequence.
Ok....so hit it lightly. Good advice. How about you come back when you actually have some experience boxing and training? I really don't give a **** what you think of my posts. This forum is full of a bunch of teenagers who have never stepped foot inside a gym, let alone actually been in a boxing match. If a newbie actually followed half the 'advice' (including yours) given on this forum they'd be in trouble.
I've found Amys advice very help in some cases... Shes a US boxing judge (correct me if Im wrong) As for getting in a "E-battle", why the **** are you even posting in this thread? Its a dumb question. If you wanna learn to hit hard go to a ****ing gym. The brother who told him to hit a wall, Im gonna take a shot and say that hes a highschooler with grades that consist of C's or lower. I box welter and have been told I hit like a middleweight, and my hands are silky smooth...
