I know there is lots of love for Lennox here on ESB, hell he makes my top 10 but Ive noticed something disturbing recently, some posters actually have him top 3 :huh

I`ll give you 3 reasons that Lewis should never even be thought about for a top 3 all time HWT spot.......

    ALI
    LOUIS
    HOLMES

Anyone who ranks the big guy ahead of any of those 3 needs a slap IMO.

Busted. I have Lewis ranked highly based mainly upon H2H as I cannot fathom anyone before the Liston/Ali era (early 60's) doing much with Lewis. Joe Louis could probably be a solid 220 or so with today's training ,but based upon his 198-205 lb peak(?) I have trouble comparng him to bigger HW's.

Sort of like comparing Red Grange to Bo Jackson/Jim Brown or football teams of the 20's/30's/40's to todays teams IMO. Really not fair to those greats of the past . But comparing with achievements & against competiton of their era I am far more generous.

I still had Ali/Holmes ahead of Lewis ,however.

Now go ahead & slap me.

Where exactly do you rank Lewis?

I agree, and would add another name or so to that list, as well.

Ive never did a list with more than 10 so I dont know exactly but Id rank Tunney & Charles higher than Moore, a fair bit higher to be honest.

I actually have Jersey Joe Walcott at no10 but its a really debatable spot.

Yes, those 3 guys are true p4p greats but I thought you only asked me about their career as HWTs, thats why they dont make my top 10 tho Tunney or Charles could STILL replace Walcott at no10 HWT as that spot is far from cemented.

I alternate him between 3 and 4, can't decide who ranks higher out of him and Sonny.
