Is Hatton the British version of Oscar?

Hatton is the bigger version of David Diaz. The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

not sure didnt calzaghe do better in bbc sports personality of the year - not the must scientific test of popularity but suggests with the general non boxing public calzaghe is more popular (that said hatton had just been floored which doesnt help with these things).

hatton probably is more popular though as he is funny and seemingly able to joke at himself (british love this) whereas calzaghe as a personality is a bit dry (but does have the unbeaten status).

Erm back to the thread I dont think Hatton is like Oscar he just deals with Oscar but maybe to Manny Hatton represents GBP and if he had any beef from last fight with oscar maybe it has followed through. This is not really Hattons fault but you cant blame either fighter for that really.

I think Audley was trying to be britains version of Oscar but it all went oh so wrong.

difference is Pacman deserves more money than hatton...why? cuz he should and will win the fight...he is far more exciting and a far better fighter

 

wow this thread explains it all...PAC IS BIGGER IN THE USA....yes the sport is global BUT GEORGIA is BIGGER THAN ENGLAND....so it does matter what the USA thinks...and i know notone person that pays to watch hatton...I kniow plenty that would love to see pac fight anyone

 

That might be pushing it a little but I'd certainly pay big money to see him beat the **** out of Mayweather.

 

60-40 vs PBF would be far more....that would sell 2 mil ppv's...people buy competitive fights like that before they do blowouts like PBF hatton....aside from the england hatton huggers

 

erm georgia might be bigger than england but its population isnt - the artic is bigger than england but the polar bears aint reknown for purchasing pay per view. Granted the USA has a bigger population than the uk but does this translate to more pay per views.? - i dont actually know the answer there.

 

The point is that the USA has in excess of 300 million citizens (legal ones) whereas the UK has around 60 million. In case you can't work it out, that is more than five times the population of the UK. I cannot imagine any big PPV event selling five times more in the USA than in the UK. Obviously boxing isn't as widely followed in the USA as it once was.
