Hi, i posted before asking how people found the book, i hadnt read it at this point. I just finished it at work and i must say it was one of my better read's. The stage's and chapter's were quite refreshing and some of the insight's were impressive also. I really dont know where to begin, he certainly seemed to love getting stuck into a tear up himself as a trainer with whoever and his mental intelligence is very impressive in a positive way regarding the fighter's he trained. Well if i start i wont stop but i would really like other's opinion on the book and the man himself. Is this book an honest portrayal of the man ? What storie's or possible snippet's of information werent mentioned ? Does anyone have memorie's of certain situation's that didnt make it into the book itself ? Cheers :thumbsup P.S. Excuse ma grammar
Good book. It's been a few years since I read it, so you can probably clear this up for me: Didn't he say he bailed Shannon Briggs out in a street fight?
yeh brillaint book he seems a nutter though especially in that fight with a heap of red necks who knew he was training a black man (moorer) a brilliant book that gives an insight into what shaped him as a man
I thought it was a really great read, and yes as I recall, I think he claimed to have bailed Shannon Briggs out in a street fight. I tend to think Teddy is a bit of a bullshitter but it makes for a very interesting and entertaining book.
I'm not saying he didn't have his back or anything, but I can't imagine Briggs would need too much help in a street fight. Who knows?
isnt briggs asthmatic may have been abit out of breath briggs would be scary in a street fight but imagine teddy atlas coming after you he would be a relentless little fighter and would fight like a cornered rat or a badger
Yeah i think he did when briggs got grief outside a restaurant , they was ripping into him as he had his orange dreads up ( the dudes on door or at it )........he fell down steps scrapping(Atlas) bailed briggs into the car, then they walked to the hotel, Atlas and i forgot the other dudes name. Back at hotel, rozzers turned up as the people they gave a whupping claimed they had guns blag.they was gonna be arrested etc but some high end pig was actually part of the boxing comission or promotion the next night. So they was oks
Yeah he was just gonna take a shot for him etc, fight was the next night so he didnt even want Briggs getn a scratch etc.
Aye, as mentioned its a very entertaining read. One minute you are drawn into his wiseman getup and some really insightful thoughts on peoples mannerisms etc. Next minute that's all out the window and he's having a tearup with Foreman at the press conference. :rofl:rofl:rofl (According to the book) :yep
Atlas is a bit of a nut. I'm no fan as he's a hypocrite (and an overrated trainer), but one thing I won't question is his balls/craziness. He's not someone I'd want to get into a physical altercation with.
