Cotto did not body punch where as Shane did. Cotto usually throws body punches and chose not to against AM. Cotto also had no right hand and AM only had to worry about the hook. Shane totally broke AM down with every punch from the jab, to the hook to the right hand!

The only part pbf would not have been able to execute was the pushing Marg back to the ropes. But to subsitute for that pbf would have kept Marg turning which is what Shane and Paul williams were able to do. You cant just retreat like Cotto did you have keep him out of rythm with clinching, footwork and a jab to the head and body.

Honestly i dont think the handwrapping would have been an issue because Marg couldnt even find shane and shane is very hittable at this stage of his career. Hell Mayorga hit shane more times clean then Marg did and Mayorga isnt that good. Marg is just that limited and pnches too wide, nearly every damn thing is a hook or a uppercut.

Shane kept the fight in the middle of the ring by keeping Marg turning and clinching. Williams did the samething and had success

But the one thing you leave out is that all the guys you mentioned are faster hand and foot than Marg. You need speed to be able to catch up with pbf all you will suffer the same fate as baldomir. All those fighters are more skilled also, a couple of them have good jabs too. You cant be competitive with pbf with one trick. Pbf would have used his jab to the head and body like always. Circle Marg and lead off with hooks and right hands then clinch. Rinse and repeat for 12 rds. You dont need power to beat Marg, you just need to keep him off balance

He would have did what cotto did, plus not gas, clinch and circle instead of just retreating to the ropes.

 

Thats what to expect. Shane looked great, and all people can do it look to be assholes. That's whats wrong with these "fans".
