Is Shane Mosely among the best punching welters of all time? Who would you have ahead of him?

Right now i'd have him at #1.

That's why I let the dust settle on these great performances before making these judgements, I get over-excited.

    Hell no.

    Hearns
    Robinson
    Cuevas
    Napoles
    Curry
    Leonard

The list could go on and on.

The strange thing is, it seems like there's a bit of recoil on his right hand: whenever he lands it full force, it sort of rebounds somewhat and he looks a bit shocked and perhaps a tiny (but only a tiny, tiny) bit out of balance.

Hearns for sure, but as far as the others go, I think Mosley hit harder.

Anyone want to view one of the most spectacular knockdowns you'll ever see? Check out Mosley knocking down Shannon Taylor right at the end of the first round. It's quite a devastating piece of footage. It defies logic how a single punch could cause so much carnage. It's not just how Taylor falls, but also how quickly he hits the floor.

Taylor climbs to his feet and actual walks to the nuetral corner where Mosley is standing. Never seen that before after a knockdown. When the bell rings for the end of the round, Taylor trudges back to his corner, sits on his stool, with Lewis and Fenech asking him questions. Fenech asks him "where are you Shannon" and the response with a screwed face is "what you talking about, he never knocked me down"

I love the couple where he mashes dude with an overhand right, and ends up with the guy laying all over him.. I know one was against Gomez, and I can recall another one, just cant get the guys name out.. Also..He almost did it to Winky when he put his hands down trying to be slick, falling onto Mosley was a good defensive move in that case.

    Calm down fellas.

Mosley had to hit Margarito with a 100 million flush shots before he took him out.

Leonard and Curry probably too. If they landed as many punches as Mosely did yesterday it's a fair bet the poor guy would be devastated.

Shane Mosley is indeed a great fighter. He is one of only 7 people I can recall off the top of my head to win lightweight and welterweight world championships. Ross, Armstrong, Duran, Whitaker, De la Hoya, and Mayweather are the only other fighters I recall doing so.

Is Vinny Pazienza the only lightweight to get a title at 154 without winning one at 147?

    Oh well...

Mosley is not one of the 5 best punchers in welterweight history. Mosley is not even one of the 5 best puchers of recent years. Trinidad, Quartey, Mayorga, Cotto, and Margarito all hit harder.

Exactly. Imagine Cuevas landing that many flush shots? They'd have carried Margarito out in a bodybag.

No way Mayorga, Cotto, or Mararito hit harder. Tito, Ok.
