I hear so often before last night that Margo wasnt limited, that Margo was a very skilled fighter but wanted to fight the way that he did because he was a warrior. I never bought it, I thought that he was limited and unable to adjust in fghts....On the flipside we hear all the time about Cottos power, but yet he doesnt really hurt fighters...He wore Judah out, never hurt Shane, or Margo. Judah, Mosley and Margo all said that Cotto didnt hit hard. yet he is seen as this huge banger with one shot power even without having a one shot knockout that I can recall..
Margo's skill. And its not even close. Cotto fought that night in fear, and if he would have stood and trade he could have had the same result that Mosley did. And (bang the drum) Cotto may have been facing illegally wrapped hands.
Judah said Cotto was very heavy handed, Mosley said he was more physically strong than he was a puncher but still said he "Felt the buzz" a few times and Margarito also said "Cotto hits very hard" so I'm going to go with the former.
Im not sure about that...Cotto isnt as tough or strong willed as Shane...Cotto quit. I dont really care what anyone says about that its the truth.
Hm thats funny that they would say the those things after they all said that he didnt hit very hard...Althought from what your saying they didnt really say that he was a big puncher. In fact Shane is saying according to you that Cotto isnt a puncher. I question Margo saying that because everything I read had him saying that Cotto didnt hit very hard.
Because he expended too much energy backing away. If he would have stood in the pocket more he would have had much more success. He would have reserved energy and his shorter, straighter punches would have landed more. Not only that but he would have smothered Marg. The problem with the move and stick plan was that other than the end of the Mosley bout, Cotto never really had to box off his back foot. I said this all well before Cotto fought Margarito and everyone thought I was crazy. Most felt he needed to fight exactly how he did, and after watching Cotto and Mosley basically box to a draw using the same exact skillset, its obvious that Cotto took the wrong strategy right from the opening bell.
Cotto's power is nice and solid, but it's been massively overrated for years. Margarito is disintegrating. When a fighter with his kind of durability gets stopped, there is going to be something seriously wrong with his future brain function and motor skills. He needs to stop immediately.
Oh you mean how your boy Margo thought he was getting a easy payday and got is ass ripped out.. Like I said in th other threads Margo fans should say a ****ing word about any other fighter EVER..He has a long list of ***** made moves that no one can honestly defend.
did anyone really rate margo's skill?? great chin and heart etc, but skill? i never did anyway.... cottos power maybe over-rated slightly alright....
i was talking about Cotto. btw the ***** is the guy ducked an entire division when he was starting to feel the heat.
Yeah, that's why Steve Forbes broke De La Hoya's.. Because he's such a big hitter. It's all about LOCATION, and the frequency with which you strike a particular area. If I hit you in the shoulder enough times I'm going to **** your **** up, believe that..
